OK new photos of MOT and his girls as promised, at 6 mo old, very tall, still peeping, like baby chicks!
They also will not roost yet, but stay on the coop floor like baby chicks !
His rose comb is just budding:
this last pic is a pullet so you can see the difference.
Mot is tall for his age !
Very tall and heavy, meaty.
They have very green eyes, and the imposing hawk-like stare.
He has been defensive since he hatched, we KNEW he was a roo, at 2 inches tall he would run out and attack the hand inserted in the brooder...the pullets would hide.
I am wary that he will be a meanie, hope not, he is necessary for a while until I have some sons from him and can pick and choose.
A full rose comb is a weird thing to behold, what with all the little points...makes you look twice.
I really love these birds already, peeping babies at their size...they are very white, almost a blueish white, have a faint red stripe down the side of the leg (like a RIR but fainter)...and hawk-like green eyes.
The only other chicken I have seen with this greener-than green eyes is Golden Cuckoo Roo...
