Yep, pretty sure my olive eggs will be a hit next spring when my OE's are old enough, but an even bigger hit on BYC I'd think to be is my purple layers. . .

Now just if they wouldn't DIE on me in a snowstorm!!!

. . . Next hatch, next hatch I'll have more. . . .

how are the Black Java's temperament? And when will you babies? I might be interested in them

Thanks

not sure when I'll have java babies but most likely end of summer time ;/
still building breeding flock to what I want which takes time.

So far my roo buff orp x leghorn is a bit skiddy but no where as bad as leghorns. I am hatching more to get a hen so I can tell about egg production. BUT my 2 female white leghorns are egg laying machines! they lay about 6 days a week each! been off the last 2 days tho my guess is winter finally caught them (I do not use a winter light for my chickens). also my RIR lays every other day even now. My white wyandottes and EE's should start laying any day now and I might try those mixes as well but my main interest is in the leghorn laying power with my very friendly buff orp roo and his size. If I can get his temperament and the girls egg power in 1 bird then it would make a perfect backyard urban egg machine

(I like playing with mixes and heck if they don't work out there is always freezer camp!)

I do have 2 black monsters that are turning out really pretty. 1/2 Black Jersey Giant and 1/2 Black Star mix. They are Large birds that are Black with red highlights coming through. I will have to get my good camera out and take a photo in the sunshine. The Roo is getting to be gorgeous!

Ya did not see the black ones out running around? The red is hidden unless they are in the light.
