I decided I'm going to post on as many threads as I can to help build up the Egg Train this year.

The West coast is lacking in help right now and most birds and eggs that we need to move are here.

If anyone travels or will be traveling, or just wants to help with organizing or making some short deliveries, please, please, sign up on the members thread and add your traveling destinations to the monthly destination threads.

The Train have worked. I got behind after my husband died and lost some momentum, but he was behind me on this and I really want to make it as big as I can. California we can still use lots more.

My main reason for starting this was because I get the worse looking hatching eggs in the mail. I wanted to do something that would help all of us get out shipments in better shape. This year you'll all see me really trying to grow this, so you might as well give up and join in. Help your fellow BYCers out.

OK you can return to your regularly scheduled posts.

Thanks

Kim

what about a summer camp out? I used to be part of a group of friends (I was a friend of one of the friends so got to go a few times) who went to 1 persons large field/property for a over night camp out. They had a large BBQ grill going for food, everyone brought stuff like chips, salads, deserts, etc. to share and meat for the grill to cook for their family. Basically a large pot luck with overnight accommodations in the field (tents rv's vans etc). I think everyone also chipped in for the porta-potty too.

This made it great for those who came a long way and also allowed people to party with no worry about having to get home in the middle of the night cuz they were having to much fun!

Its a option if anyone had the space.

My family does this exact thing twice each summer! The 4th of July and some time in the end of summer. "the date is never the same." Parking is on my property, and camping and other activities are next door at my Mothers property. Its always a blast but OH so much work, as nobody seems to know what a pot-luc is anymore... Now if I didn't have horses ocupying 85% of my property, lol I could host here. But with the horses I just dont think I have the room.

I have a SIL that lives in Indialola. One of these days when we go over, maybe I can come visit see your Chickens?

Sure! Just let me know when you'll be out this way! I dont have much to look at as for birds. lol I have just my four girls, in a little coop. But I do have 3 barking dogs, and 3 horses that will drive you nutts, but are nice to look at. lol

Eventually I will have my Ameraucanas, Marans, and Icelandics. The Ameraucanas will come first then the Marans, and then if there is interest for them here in Washington, I would like to add the Icelandic breed as well. At least those are the three breeds that I would love to work with.

Ok...you just sealed it. My first love is horses, fractured my shoulder falling off one this last summer, but intend to get back to it soon! I would love to come see your petting zoo!

Summer camp with summer coops with 300 chickens and we see how many we can eat in 4 days.

I loved the duck eggs I ate this morning. Thanks T Hi. Just Bugged, we used yours for french toast so didn't appreciate them in their pure state.

I think for me its a dead even 3-way tie between chickens, dogs, and horses. lol I gotta have some kind of exposure to each, or I'm just not myself. Like I said, just let me know when your gonna be over here. lol I'm rarely away from home for long. To much happens around here to quikly for me to go awy for more than a couple hours.

Hey! RonB can't call me the baby of the group anymore! I grew up in the 70's & 80's. So xo looks to be younger than me. Congrats! You are elected the baby of the group!

I was born in the early 80's... So guess I would be a child of the 80's and 90's. Though Ive been on my own sense 1997... I may not be the baby of this group but AI think I'm one of the younger croud...

Gawd!!! I hate this stupid wrist brace!!!
he.gif
But I can't function without it... I hate having arthritis, yes 6 years ago I was diagnosed with R.A. and it sucks big time...

I think you are one of the youngest ... I remember when I was always the baby ... long way from that now:/

I also have RA in my wrists and hands since I was 17. My mom is an OT, so she made me all my wrist and finger braces. It worsened with age and the work I was doing for a while. Some days, especially if I've been pulling weeds the day before or doing a lot of pipetting in my job, I could hardly open my hands the next morning if I would not wear the guards. There were days that I had to call for a ride home from work because I could not push in the button on the gear shifter on my car! My grip was very poor for a while. I fear becoming my grandmother whose hands became curled and practically useless with arthritis by the time she hit her mid-50's. She passed away in her early 60's, and she looked old decades beyond her age ... so sad for someone who never smoked and from the sounds of it, had no vices. But my arthritis has improved a lot in the last 3 years; not sure why. I do eat a lot of local unfiltered honey ... maybe there is bee venom in it. I did take bee venom honey for a while too, and even intentionally had bees sting my hands as bee venom reduces the symptoms of arthritis. I first thought it just masked the pain of the sting, but the effects are much longer lasting than that. My fingers still ache when it is cold, so I have a lamp that produces a lot of heat positioned over my keyboard to keep my fingers warm.
