We have a pool that is 4 feet deep, 4 or 5 feet wide and 6 or 8 feet long. There are no pumps to it, and seeing how the house needs work Im not going to spend lots of money on the pumps for 3 weeks of having the pool. So I was thinking just making it into a greenhouse possible. The wife was thinking a koi pond. It is 1/4 or thicker fiberglass and in ground surrounded by patio. Who knows what Ill do inthe spring.

Cover a few subjects mentioned with this post.

Seed bed starters.
I'm going to try to get this done this month but use 1/4 rock instead to gain more heat.......................

Hope to hear his future updates for how long it lasts. Of course that would be different for all of us depending on wind, trees, snow.

With a limited budget that some of us are working with I think worth a try.

This won't happen for me this year as I haven't made final plans yet how I'm using my space as well as wanting to research a bit more.

BTW. We ended up with 6 or 7 inches last night. Wind has blown it all off the trees. About 5 left on ground. Going to be a slow melt.

that hoop house looks interesting! Did you read his 'improvements' area? I think I might try this actually...

Chickielady! Here is my recipe for Banana bread. And it is OH so yummy! Its always a big hit, very moist and full of flavor!
droolin.gif

1/3 C Shortening
1/2 C Sugar
2 Eggs

1 3/4 C Sifted flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 C mashed ripe Bananas
1/2 C chopped Walnuts

Cream together Shortening, Sugar, & Eggs.
Sift together all dry ingredients.
Mix half of the dry ingredients and half of the mashed Bananas into the creamed mixture.
Mix well and repeat, once batter is thouroughly mixed add the chopped nuts.
Pour batter into lightly greased loaf pans, bake in a 350 degree oven, for 40 - 45 minutes.
Remove and chill on rack.

Do yourself a favor, and don't mix it all at once... It just doesn't blend properly if everything is added all at once... I learned this the hard way...

Is this even close to what you are looking for?

yes, exactly, and I can use some of my gluten free flour mix, that is sorghum, rice and a few other GF flours mixed with X amount of Xantahm gum...should work fine. That is tomorrow's highlight. Today is bone a 28 pound turkey, still frozen !!
Then cooked half, and we ended up with 1 1/2 gallons of giblet gravy (food of the Gods!) and the dog is soo happy to have some too!
Will do smashed-a-taters and cranberry sauce...then hor turkey sammiches for the rest of the week.
I love only cooking once or twice a week.
DIY, and Greg :: the greenhouses look great.
I am measuring mine to replace the "rafters" with 2x4s and then DH will cipher how much waffle fiberglass we will need, and a few carbon fiber panels this year, each year.
the tomatoes, peppers, english cucs (love the bread and butter pickles !YUMMM!!!) will live in there, and the pumpkins (I have jack o lantern and Knucklehead warty pumpkins) and 2 kinds of zuchinni, yellow paddy pans, sweet meats, pink banana squash..3 kinds of tomatoes (that are all under 54 days each!!)
Seed candy onions I need to put out in the next few days and cover...and a new kind of basil I am intrigues with.
Oh, and I have green romano pole beans

and bright yellow (goldmarie) romano pole beans, and my Oregon sugar pod snow pea seed from last year.

This is all no doubt gonna make Rusticbynature sad not to have a garden this year
