These are pics of the elusive blue duckick rotovating in the garden wall and heading out for wormies in the compost pile.
Yes I uncovered it so the birds could get in there.
One scooping double handful of compost, right off the top, has got to have thousands of worms in it !!
Everyday I open the pen gate on 1 run and let the residents out in the yard..and they RUN to the compost pile.
I do not need to suppliment their food with anymore protein than that..and it is free, and they rotovate my soil in exchange for the wonderful wormies.

Yes, we are on the list of flooding, can't waite for the King tides !!
Got your dingy ready ??
DH says tie a LONG rope on the boat and unclamp it from the trailer !!!

I have a river running down the hill, through the Cuckoo Maran pen, across the circular drive and on down the hill.
Monsoon !!!

We fully intend to sit on our rears ,feet up, and watch the Seahawks today !!!

On a sad note: Saw neighbor Wayne at the grocerie and he was somber and said his wife just diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, she is 60 something and smokes like a semi.
Sad...I have to go visit her in the next week or so before she goes.
It is very painful trying to breath with glass in your lungs..the most painful slow death there is, I think...so, oh well ?

I put on my hospice face and march over to see her, that's all.

You oughta try California water !! It tastes alot like something that comes OUT of your washing machine, but with a few tablespoons of baking soda and a few Tablespoons of Bleach in evey 12 OZ glass !!!
It is so bad that the water heater will short out from hard mineral formations in about 6 months unless you have a zinc installed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The toilet forms a nasty crusty ring that has to be scrubbed off with wetsand paper...weekly......I FEEL so much better here just drinking this water. My body feels better. I think living down there for 10 years made me very sick.
I will tell ya what, our rain water is deliscious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you filter you rain water?

Yes, it goes through a drain pipe "sock" section (used to enclose drain pipe to keep sand and sediment out) and then it goes through a big but extrememly tightly woven coffee filter, fits right in the tank lid opening which is the size of a big margarine container.
Then once the tank is full, which takes about 2 hours

we add 3/4 c unscented bleach, and then cork it up.
That way the whole tank is clean and chlorinated.

Chickielady, that is one soggy chicken!

My ducks love the worms, too, only the ground is frozen, so no worms for them.

Our snow is fast melting and the freight train sounds of snow and ice sliding off the roof have been going on all night.
But we need snow desperately for our Winterfest Event on the 29th. So if you have any snow, send it over!

******************************Check this out!!!*******************************

Next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we have MAJOR KING TIDES of 10.1, 10.0 and 10.0 respectfully, I have not seen tides this high for MONTHS!!!
These super super high tides paired with the snow melts and rain are gonna flood !!!!!!
Highes now run the 9 PM to 10 PM and am until the afore mentioned King Tides...something to do at lunch...go watch the houses float down the river....

Did the river freeze over ?
Is it Booming and snapping ?
Usually we always (seriously) always have warm weather around the 16th of January.
It extends a bit prior to and a bit after usually lasting 1 to 1 1/2 weeks.
The Indians in North Idaho (Nez Pierce) call this warm weather "chinook wind".
I remember one year it was in the -10s around January, and suddenly one morning we heard water dripping, and big trains of snow sliding off the roof...and we ran outside there was barely patches of snow left here and there..when there was over 6 feet when we went to bed the night before. GONE!! And the ground was quicksand !!!

One of these days I want to study the "chinook wind" more, but apparently the Native Americans know all about it and it happens every year.
Maybe you need to move the Winter Fest before the Chinook !
