Last year I bought a used one with turner for $50. Then I put in a fan that I had. I got decent results considering that I was all new to hatching and had no idea what I was doing.

Only if I bring in lots of soil! I do have a fair number of raised beds though.

I usually plant only part of each packet, and save the rest for the following year. I should try saving seed. I had a bunch of tomatoes re-seed themselves. They looked pretty, but tasted like mud.

I tried growing corn here a few times, but I've not had much luck with it. The ears are always tiny.

My wish list has a lot of lettuce in it. I have a few cold-frames that I grow the cutting varieties in, and I grow in haning baskets as well.

I think I need to eliminate some lettuce and some of the tomatoes as well. Maybe the eggplant too. Never tried growing that before. DD loves eggplant. I find it rather blah. I love radishes, but maybe one packet of each variety is fine. Beans and peas ... we can never grow too many of those. I froze a bunch of peas last summer, and DS snacks on them straight from the freezer. He hides in the pantry when he eats them, and I find the spilled peas every time I sweep in there.

I'm hoping for a good blueberry crop this year. I am tempted to take out my plum and apple trees and replace them with more blueberrins as the plums and apples draw in the bears, but last fall the bears discovered the blueberries, so now I am afraid that they are doomed too.

Those flowers are lovely. When I lived in Woodinville, I grew a lot of beautiful flowers, but I have given up on them out here. If the weather does not get them, the elk and deer do. Whatever they don't eat, the ript up and throw across my yard in disgust.

If you buy that much this year you won't have to buy so much next year unless you try a bunch of new varieties. Some seed lasts quite a while. The Territorial Seed catalog lists the life of seeds. The only type I buy enough for one year of is the onion family. They are only good for 1-2 years at best. Just store seed in a cool dry place. I put mine in zip locks for the winter.

Definately lose the eggplant. Unless it is grown 100% of it's life in a greenhouse, pollination and yield will give you about nothing. It's way worse than tomatoes and peppers.

I'd spend the little extra and get a brinsea. the hova's and LG's work ok but are temperamental toads that take up a ton of space.
http://www.brinsea.com/prod-Octagon_20_ECO_egg_incubator-224.aspx
$99 plus shipping...

but check out the brinsea thread before making a decision as I don't have one so don't know for sure about them. just know the hova's and LG's are a pain.

SadieSue~you can get the mini brinsea with nothing automatic for 65 bucks-new. I can't remember if it was on the brinsea site or if it was on ebay... I will look for the links. For what you want to do, it would probably be great. I think it's the new style brinsea octo 10. little round jobby. you just let me know if you do want some lil eggs!

mine failed I believe.. no pips and yesterday was The Day. I am sad. aw well. I did just get my new octagon 20 set up last night... it's stabilized and filled, so hope this will be a better hatch.

thank you for the nice words.. *warm fuzzies*

I just use an under the bed plastic thing for their pool. It's easy to dump out and clean. They also 'use' (play in?) the chicken waterers, which means I have to clean those every day.. ducks are pigs with feathers. lol!! cute adorable lil piggies. I LOVE T's set up.. wow. nice nice nice.

I am out to do stuff in the SUN!!!

but let me look for that 65 dollah brinsea....

oh oh-- I also just ordered from Uprising..!! What a great little farm.... I think I contained myself, kept my order to under 40 bucks.. this time. heehee! I am ordering some organic seeds n stuff from Territorial too. did anyone notice that Abundant Life Seeds is Territorials 'alternative' catalog?? With much more expensive prices.. even on their supplies??? wow. I went thru the catalogs at the same time, and if AL had something the regular catalog had and I wanted it, I got it from the regular catty... most of the things in AL are the same organic OP stuff in Territorial. I thought that was interesting.
