Ooh thinking of you tonight Illia:: I just got the Murray McMurray and the Randall Burkey catalog today as if they are in cahoots !!
Gotta get leg bands for the birds going to show, but flipping through, and oh my lookie there:: Bantam Araucanas !! With big giant tails !!!!!!!!!
lau.gif

Honestly !
Do you think they could at least have rumpless araucanas ????
I cannot believe the Applesauce in this catalog!!!!!!!!!!
I have not even looked through the Randall Burkey yet...
You would think they would be getting better, not worse.
Ideal has to be the #1 worst, but as of today, seems McMurray is jumping in on the rediculous train...a tailed araucana ??
It is the #1 trait of type in these birds to be rumpless and tufted !!!
Eye yie yie !!!

I am going to look at Holdereads for Cayugas...good eating and lawn mowers.

I guess all you'd have to do is talk the Dw into it, she speaks of them being messy. My luck we would get some and they would fly off with the wild ones that frequent the winter season lake on the backside of the property.

These ducks Do Not Fly!!!! That is why they are called Runner ducks!!! So you don't have to worry about them flying away!!

Incense cedar, Calocedrus decurrens, is not the same as Deodar cedar.

Quote:
Cedrus deodara (Deodar Cedar, Himalayan Cedar, or Deodar)
The inner wood is aromatic and used to make incense. Inner wood is distilled into essential oil. As insects avoid this tree, the essential oil is used as insect repellent on the feet of horses, cattle and camels. It also has antifungal properties and has some potential for control of fungal deterioration of spices during storage. The outer bark and stem are astringent.

Incense cedar wants a hot, dry location. Can you if them that?

We've had sun off and on the last couple days here.Yay!! come on spring.....
What do you spray on your trees?

I just use dormant spray and sulpher 3 X in the winter.
Especially the peaches and nectarines so we avoid the dreaded peach leaf curl.
I am looking for about 50 western red cedar seedlings, and maybe 25 incense cedar...if anyone knows where to get them from a forestry provider.

I also have 7 baby California meat rabbits ready to go...anyone looking for rabbits, $15 a peice.
They are awesome !
Tonight, and tomorrow, is duck pip day, I hope this one early one is not the only one !!
I saw soo much swimming action at last candle, every egg had a movie going on inside...hope they all hatch !

Why have we no duck smilies ??

Deodar cedars are from the Himalayas. You want the Calocedrus decurrens. They grow in Oregon.

It is one of my very favorite-est trees, and grows profusely on the Oregon I-5 corridor area among other places.
Working in sawmills in the Roseburg/Myrtle Creek area we would go down, and retool the entire mill, and then run massive amounts of incense cedar, so by the end of the first night you either loved it or were ready to puke cuz the smell is soo overwhelming.
Those of yopu poor souls that have never smelled white cedar are missing something extroidinary.
The trees also make a wonderful little wooden rose-like blossom that is cool for potpouries.
I want some seedings any one know where to get them ?
I have 6 planted 10 years ago in my property in Northern California...wish I could have dug them up and brought them with, they'd really like it here

Oh, so sorry!
You so do not deserve this or need this dramatic idiot applesauce right now !!!
So super unfair, what was he thinking ?
Has he done this often ?

Oh no! This is his first time doing this. The other two accidents were ones I was driving in. Niether were my fault, both were head on colisions. First one was in his 05 cobalt... I felt horible for that one, the car was brand new. The second one totaled my little subaru wagon, out on Airport way in Seattle. So in 6 years, one incident isnt bad. This was just a HUGE one. lol

Since DW has been so anxious to get the new window in the banty coop I decided I had better take advantage of the dry weather today. So after waiting for them to get done laying so I could lock em out I got busy installing thier ugly little window.
Here is a pic before the little window.

And here is after the little window. It is a 22"x60" tinted privacy glass that slides open. I will also be putting wire over the outside to keep the little buggers from flying off when the window is open. I hope that since it is privacy (mirrored) it will let in a lot of light but not much heat.

Remember, I am the closest neighbor to the Cedar mill here.

Sorry, honey. Yep, it is very expensive lesson to learn...and hopefully he has learned. Good for your DD. He needs to think of what the alternatives could have been....killing someone else or killing himself.....make sure he realizes that he could have left your DD without a daddy. Or someone else's DD or DS without a parent. Very scary.

You know we are all here for you ....use us to vent at.

Hebetter have learned, as I told him I will not go through this again. And I meant it. He could have killed himself or someone else. I still dont understand why he took the road that he did. He can hardly drive that road without going in the ditch on a nice dry day stone cold sobre. Big dummy that he is. Poor little 10" around fir tree, but I'm glad he hit the tree and didn't plow through the brush and fence, and into the back side of the police fueling station. Ugg... lol
It was and still kinda is a scary situation. He has to take a drug and alcohol screening, and then a victems panel. His next court date is on march 1st, I'm not looking forward to driving him to court, but oh well.

He has to go. Needless to say, he's not drinking anymore. He may want to, but Mamma Cheyrl says NO WAY!

We will get over this, and things will eventually get back to normal. Its just gonna take some time.

You go honey. Remember we are here to vent at. Don't back down or soften up on this subject. Make sure he knows you are serious....You have a DD to protect.
