But yes, that is egg-zactly how it is done.
Grabs food crumbs as well as poop.

Regarding the raffle::: you can always donate any usable item or craft!
Embroidery, earrings or other jewelry for example, paintings, wood work or iron work or sculptures.
lots of lawn & garden stuff at Walmart...garden or flowers or seeds, like a bundle of vegie seeds in a sandwich bag..dug raspberries, strawberries or what have you!
I think someone had some grape vines in 1 gallon pots there too...any baby items, little booties, caps or blankets...kitchen gadgets always do well!
Refrig magnents and stationary..usuable new packs of office supplies, paper clips, post it notes, sharpies, pens, computer paper.
Dog stuff: collars, leashes, sack of dog food..sack of chicken food, sack of DE, poultry dust, grit, chick feeders & fonts.
Chicks even!
If you have a good craft, bring it, it may attract attention & get you orders, no food though, darn it!!

So hey Chickielady! Should I look for a W/BW Ameraucana cockeral from a different line? Or can I just start with what was hatched?

And if I should find a cockeral from a different line. Does anyone have any young W/BW Ameraucana cockerals that are needing a home? lol

Just got notice that mine is scheduled for delivery on March 16th! I see that someone needs to be here to sign for it, so I hope the delivery is either morning or later in the afternoon. Then I'll need to start looking at the calendar to see when the best day to find some eggs would be... We are going to be having some fun!

On the flip side - I am sorry that so many of you are either having health issues or know someone with serious health issues. It is a very helpless feeling when people we care about are ill and it is beyond our control. I have been witness to a sad and inevitable journey of a friend of ours the past few months. No amount of medical care or money will change the outcome.

And I am so happy for those of you with DH's (or DW's) who perhaps begrudgingly have been not only supportive, but excited about chicken keeping and/or chicken growing! In this household we have also gone from a resolute "NO!" to a man who works in the cold to try and build a chicken fortress for me. I know the first time we hatch some chicks he's going to be like a little kid.

I have 2 once removed from Pips and peeps line and 18 eggs from a different line in the bator. I'm sure there will be lots of extra roos. Waiting to see if chicky wants the pips and peeps roos but if not you are welcome to them.

These pics for Teresa of 2 of the girlies:

One of favorite mistakes, a Blue Ameraucana X light Brahma, so a Brahmacuana pullet. fully bearded, feathered shanks & toes and the cutest thing!
Can't waite to see her egg!

Same pullet, oh so cute!

She will have a big fluffy brahma butt too!

A pullet from BCMarans X Blue Ameraucana so an OE, no beard though, nice lacing, she looks like her BCM mother

Here she is again.
they are moving fast and off on their second free range out with the big girls.
The third pullet for teresa is a wyandotte X Cuckoo marans, looks like a cuckoo pullet but has the wyandotte cuchion type comb.
OK Teresa, you can now name the girlies.

I would love them, as long as we get new lines into both flocks.
I will need only 2, so any others can go to Cheryl.
Deal sealed !

what raffle and what do you need?
If someone can come get it I'm sure we can donate something or a lot of things lol

Washington Feather Fanciers has a raffle of donated items evey show. They set up a big table & display the items with numbers and corresponding paper bags.
You then buy tickets, I think $1 each, and brose the items.
if you see something you like, you then drop a ticket into that item's bag.
After the awards, the 4-H kids hold up each item, and another child draws out 1 ticket and the winner is announced.
Items need not be chicken related.
Last show I won some beautiful embroideried kitchen towels that are way too pretty to use except for a holiday maybe...and there is always hatching & breeding books, gardening items, trees & flower starts, birds, rabbits, stuff for guys like tools & gloves, you know, good stuff.
Cookie jars, coffee mugs, anything cute, salt & pepper shakers, lamps, napkin holders, feeders, water fonts, and someone made some nice bird cages last year too.
The proceeds go to WFF so they can rent the show arena, and pay the judges.

BTW;;Anyone that can, bring chairs for yourselves, they have very few.
We will have a table & WA4-HPoultryMom will set it up with Cloverleaf Farms's table there. So try to bring a folding lightweight chair & put your name & address on it.

I can bring 6 folding chairs.
and some "stuff"

DH wants me to clean up the garage.
