For transportation any box that is big enough will do. Rabbit cage will do until the coop is built. If it is to cold outside you can use a big plastic tote as a brooder.

I have seen people use pillow case to transport birds.

Thank you - I think I'm good then!

its scarey...and they have not said why there is no alternative power to run pumps to continue to cool the core. at least I have not caught any of the why.

The quake started the shutdown.. the tsunami wiped out the power grid and the emergency backup powers.
They are currently running on battery power and trying to get something in place before the batteries die.

They used to release radioactive steam or something like it from Hanford. The problems started many years later for a lot of people that lived down wind from Hanford. We had a friend die of breast cancer, she was a victim of being down wind from Handford. It is never good when reactors melt down. Chernobyl is still a disaster in the making. The reactor is still melting down. All they have done is cover the reactor with concrete. I really hope that they can find a fix in time, for the reactors in Japan.

Anybody wants an old dog crate for transporting their chickens?
It is 2X1 inside.
Will hold 2 ducks happily.
The original door is missing, but I've replaced it with a stainless steel mesh.
Will work for chickens.
I can stuff that in my car & bring it to the show.

I guess I need to count my blessings. See earlier this eve my sister (only relative) called me from montana. Why was I so mad? Well this her first contact since she was told I was having some med problems. To top it of she was so drunk she could barely talk (as usual). But I am lucky (I guess) that she is ok and able to call me. And this makes me love my BYC family even more.

To those with loved ones in Japan I hope you get good news soon.

One lonely call duckling amongst the newly hatched Polish bantams. Anybody hatching calls close to Spanaway that can foster?

I would love to have a Murphy bed in our office/guest room. Unfortunately it isn't going to be a priority for awhile. We need to replace the windows in our house and re model the kitchen. I am hoping that in the next year or so that we will be able to do at least one of these projects. I am leaning toward the windows first, because I am tired of being cold. We also are going to need to replace our mattress, it's now 11 years old. It is no longer as firm as I need it to be.

A item that easily costs as much as 2 to 4 thousand should last longer than 10 years.
