though there is so much rice being raised in central California and across the Gulf Coast ... that I doubt that the disaster will affect our rice prices here --- other than the rice growers here will make a bundle selling to Japan

I panicked when I put my pure Coro roo that I paid a bunch of money for and had shipped, in a roo pen. They all ganged up on him. He tried to hide his head in the corner and got it stuck between two chain link panels. he never would have gotten his head out by himself. If I hadn't been there he probably would have choked. Now I'm kind of paranoid. I agree they do really well when raised together. Most my breeding pens have 2 roos that get along. With so many roos of different breeds and different ages it would be difficult to coordinate raising them together. Sure would be nice to be able to do that though. That way all the hens could free range every day. Ha, maybe I can make "banty bins' for them!

LOL, didn't want to start a panic. I didn't actually know where most the rice was grown. Thought China too, but Cali? Learn something new every day. Which reminds me, does anyone remember the panic with paper porducts? They said there was a shortage of wood, hence paper and everyone went out and bought up all the toilet paper. Yikes! I've always wondered how people managed before toilet paper and unmentionables. Must have had lots of laundry but they probably didn't have bleach either. Yuk

It is usually the price of wood that goes up after a Japanese Tsunami I noticed.

Hope
the link works.
I just looked at wound sprays at a store out here and this stuff is the biggest rip off I have seen in years!!
It is nothing more than water and sodium hypochlorite.
LOL it is my bleach solution....DUH That would work super good!1

It is: 2 cups of unscented bleach in a clean milk jug, fill with clean water.
Mark this jug with a sharpie as "Solution"
Then, add 2 Tablespoons of this solution to another clean milk jug & fill it with water.
This will be what you 1) give to your birds to drink or
2) bath & pour this on your horses' back & wounds.
It can be poured from Jug #2 into a spray bottle & used to spray the horses' scald areas. This will mop up fungus in a screaming secong and is not much stronger than tap water.
Yet the Vetericyn people charge a whopping $34-$39 bucks for 8 to 12 oz...what a rip off !
I have read alot of bottles, they are most all water, bleach and some had a dab of aloe in them.
I hate rip offs!!!!!!!!

Any disaster like that is going to mean us exporting our lumber over there, and great news for me building a house

Well personally, I think it is worth a shot with Prada... She has the worst rain scald I have personally seen. My equine vet Dr. hills says Im doing everything right. Ive followed his directions to a T, but it hasnt gotten any better over the winter. She has a couple quarter sized bald patches along her shoulders where her blanket sits, and those scabby feeling bumps all at the bottom of her main. So the hope now is that once drier weather sets in, we can get better control over it, and get rid of it all together. I hope I dont have to do a complete body clip on her.

But if it comes down to it, then thats what I will do.

I also need to go dig through all my blankets and see if I have the next size up from a 71" She's a BIG baby! She has almost out grown her second blanket since coming home to me. lol

Maybe you can try a neck blanket that attaches to the blanket. I've seen some without a hood. It has to have the rings though. Some blankets come with them attched.

I do have a blanket hood combo, but its for really cold temps. I doubt I will ever need to use it as we just dont get that cold here... Think Maby a sleezy would work, like the kind that just covers the shoulders, and part of the neck?

Ive got all sorts of blankets, sheets, hoods, ect... Its just finding one that will fit her. Seems like she is in between sizes at the moment.
