So we hatched 2 balck ones one on saturday & one on sunday.
The sunday duckie was smaller & was getting the short end of the stick, so DS took him under his wing & timed out Mo. So she became curley.
Well, that was that.
So this morning, the one that hatched looked very silver out of the egg, so she is a keeper.
Besides, it is my first hatchling from my Holderread SQ breeders.
Got to keep the first one right?
So now I have 3 babies & 3 adults.
Duck math is bad...cause 10 holderread SQs are coming April 4th

And I built a coop to hold 6 max. So I'll have to sell a few.
Guess if I have boys, they'll have to live in the tractor.

Doctor update-

So now I have a 6th doctor working on my case! She called me today and after discussing all the symptoms AGAIN (for the hundredth time) her first question was "have you traveled out of the country in the last 6 months?"

Took care of Mom & Dad in Mexico back in January. "Oh" she says "I want to run a panel of tests on you before the colonoscopy. Possible parasites!"

I AM TONI...... THE HUMAN PIN CUSHION......... Da Ta Daaaaa........

At this point I'm ready to be checked into the mental ward!

I'm supposed to hear back from the hematologist tomorrow about the results from the blood tests last week.

Oh and NOT pregnant! 4 pregnancy tests later! DUH!! Think I would KNOW if that was a possibility!!!

I actually love pumpkin seeds! I had to quit eating them when I was diagnosed with my UC though. Hmmm.....

Ok this grumpy butt is outta here!

I have used cedar shavings for a brooder. I bought them not knowing that I should use it. I had no problems with the use of the cedar shavings. I think the trick is ventilation. Cedar has a strong odor that I think could overwhelm small chicks. I don't know that I have ever read a first person account that said that their chicks died because of cedar shavings. I have also found that a lot of the "natural" preventions, and cures rarely really work. Things like garlic, cayenne peeper, and DE may help slow down the thing like worms, but they do not cure worms. One still needs to worm their birds with something like Wazzine, and the a follow up with Ivermectin. I would love to do everything natural, but I have lost some of my birds by using the natural methods. So I now use products that actually work. I would use vaccines also, rather than loose my flock.

Agreed! I like to use natural when it works, but it has to work.

When I was pregnant with DD I thought they HAD sent me to the mental ward ... I spent much of that pregnancy in the hospital and when DD stuck her foot outside and I thought I was going insane just laying upside-down, not able to move for all those weeks and still had months to go, I just lost it emotionally one day, and needed a nurse, or Dr. or even the cleaning lady in the room with me round th clock listening to me babble for 36 hours straight, they also gave me some meds to try and get me to sleep, but instead they made me hallucinate, and according to my Dr. I was talking a lot to him about sea-horses (I know NOTHING about sea-horses) and the next day they moved me from the maternity ward to another floor in a room where one wall was a big window in front of the nurse's station! I saw a really old naked man wander down the hallway one day, and I heard the nurses call out --"There goes Mr. ____ again, we need to lead him back to his room to sedate him and strap him down." I thought they had sent me to the looney bin! I did not call any of my friends for nearly week to let them know I was moved because I did not want them to find me in the psych ward! Turns out the maternity ward was full, so they moved me to an available bed in the surgery ward - a room for post-op observation.
