When DH gets back we are going to do just that, there are mant videos & web sites dedicated to building pluckers.
DH started looking into this a week or so ago but had to stop work on a plucker when he had to go south to his Mom.
But you are correct in that it may be cheaper.

speaking of idle hands and building another coop.....
big_smile.png
we have room in the budget to build one more like we just built. they are 8x8 coops, big enough so that anyone of you i've met could lay down in one, though i don't recommend it as the first one is full of chickens. we have the bator full (again) of my RIR's some of you may have seen at the WFF show earlier this month. So... off I go to Chinook Lumber! and if they're closed i'll go to the Homer Despot.

Keep up the good effort!!!!!! You can do it!!!!!!
When my grandpa quit, he kept his shirt pocket full of star bright mints. Every time his hands got restless, he would pop a mint into his mouth! He was able to quit for good that way!!Best wishes for your success!!!

Ive got Dum Dums! They help a bit, but I cant afford to keep buying more. lol Yarn and knitting needles last SO much longer! lol The antsyness from idle hands only lasts a little while thankfully! Im getting there! Im just sick and tired of always feeling sick and tired! Plus Cigarets are expensive! And I would much rather put that $8 a day torwards my critters rather than something that is slowly killing me over time.

Im gonna do it even if my husband doesn't!

You go Cheryl...The best thing you can do for yourself..... I smoked for 19 yrs and I'm glad I quit. I dont get sick often any more and when I do it isnt as bad as when I was smoking...

Well guys, DH called this morning at 8 A.M. and I was still asleep!
big_smile.png

I slept like a ROCK with no snoring going on here..but I did stay up late with hearing little noises
hide.gif
and the dog went off a few times due to wold critters..seen raccons have been making mud pies in a big puddle..washing their hands, looks like tiny people were playing in the mud, due to their long thumbs.
DH said Mom is not expected to "make it"
They have done blood transfusions in attempts to clean her blood due to the massive infection & failing kidneys.
They are pumping antibiotics in...nothing seems to be working.
So, looks grim.

DH's Mom is my second mother....
50801_clockws_frm_up_l_lola_norma_robingarycathy_susan.jpg

Left to right kids:
the smallest: My younger sis Susan, then the tallest kid: DH's sister Kathy, then the little man in the cute suit: My DH, and then way over on the right: me, the kid with the Easter Bonnet Bucket on my head.
The woman on the left is my Mom, the right, is DH's Mom who is dying.
We were all inseperable.
Our parents always together except when my Dad went overseas in the AF....my Mom & us 2 girls, stayed here in the States, but DH's Dad was always there to help my Mom and every evening they would all 3 or all 4 parents, play scrabble, Monopoly or poker, every holiday, this photo was Easter about 1961.
It looks bad now, my heart aches for DH's Dad.
They have been together (his parents & mine)

, constantly since they were freshmen in HS..Imagine a love that long!
They say that a surviving parent of a love that long, will not live long alone.
I am also trying hard not to think that we will have to move back down there to care for him.
Gawd I hate California, the heat, the BROWNESS & dust, the droves of idiot, crazy, disrespectful people....

We may have a funeral by the end of next week.
I may ride down with my parents, attend, and drive back up with DH.

But I am OK, all else here is OK...
Cheri sorry if I "appeared" snipping about building a plucker....

As of yesterday, I'm getting 1-2 eggs a day from my Jumbo Ringnecks.
Now if my Melinistic Mutants, Domestic Japenese Greens, Reeves, Impayans would get on board I'd be in Heavaaaan!
Did get ahold of my bird pimp and he is going to set me up with
4 Male and eight female adult breeding Jumbo Bobwhites. Should be going out on Monday.
Just an update, for those who care.

My Dad did sun flower seeds, I did gum!
I had every kind of gum you could think of everywhere, in the cars, & house.
But you can buy alot of gum for the cost of 1 pack of smokes.
The other cool thing is the new electronic cigarette, totally gives your hands something to do while your body comes off nicotine, for the price, and your health, it is way way worth it.
Keep up the good work!

Wanted to let you know that I had taken my roo out of the run for 1 week (he was attacking the two BCM). I let the big girls all free range as much as possible and now your two BCM have fit in just fine. There is very little to no "harrassing" going on. Tyson (my little banty cross roo) was put back in with them and he has accepted everyone like they were always there....although he has looked at Emily and Amelia (your two BCM) and has the look on his face like "how in the heck am I suppose to do that"? I will get him a step stool. I am definitely going to need to get a big boy some day.

oh that is funny, I can see it now Tyson telling them wait I have to get on the stool first..
