WA4Hmom... I think we are done, I have 11 hatched out of 23 and a bator shutoff. 5 of those were blood rings that I tossed the rest were clear. so I am pretty happy about that. I think 2 black and the rest blues

how do you adjust the dang brooder light? have a 100 watt bulb in a heat lamp, its a white one, how far off the brooder floor do you have it hanging to maintain temp? my thermometer seems to be wonky... if I lay it flat it says way over 100, if I prop it up it says like 85...which is it???

I use a couple of carabiners that hook between the lamp and then onto a large cup hook to raise or lower the lamp in my brooder. I have a heat gun that measures the temperature under the lamp. It is possible that the flat surface is warmer than just a bit higher, because of airflow. It is probably close enough on the temps for chicks. They will either spend a lot of time huddled under the light, or they will scatter out because they are warm enough.

The bed sounds like a safe place for now. You just need to quit making the universe upset at you, cause it sounds like you are in applesauce with it at the moment.

Well I spent a big chunk of Sunday helping DD and DiL move. They moved five blocks east, and to the other side of I-5, to a very cute little house. It is their first grown up, post college house. My poor DSiL was stressed out. He has only moved a couple of times in his life. The biggest move he made though was coming to Seattle from the Netherlands. But since marring my DD he was now moved 3 times. I am thinking that they will stay at this house for a long time. The ceilings in the house are very high. That is a good thing considering DSiL is 6'6" tall. The apartment that they are moving out of was a converted daylight basement. That place had fairly short ceilings. I am so happy that they got this new place.

After I got home from there I had to wash all the nasty little dogs. They were all a bunch of stinkers.

Maybe tomorrow I can get the big dog into the shower and give him a scrub. I also need to clean the coop. I am expecting chicks to hatch on Thursday.

Okay I think I have held up for the night shift. So I ought to head for the bed before the lights come on outside again.

DH and I celebrated our 17th anniversary yesterday...long time to be picking up someone else's socks and fighting over the remote with. I totally believe the saying "Men are from Mars, women are from Venus". I no longer complain about how he washes dishes or how he loads the dishwasher...I am just thankful he has done it. Gotta love him, if I didn't who would love me...and I ain't easy to get along with. I kinda feel sory for the guy.

Congrats on 17 years!

Well I am still on internet. I called DH and he is on his way to the airport in Atlanta. He will be home for dinner. He will have 2 days home and then he is off to Japan.

Well now I have done it. The lights are come on outside, and the little birds are starting to sing. I really need to head for my coffin now.
