I do remember a little bit of the discussion about the lights and I think you are right. I "THINK" they said to leave the light on because if not they will go to sleep and could shrink wrap.

CL was wondering if a light left on would help them during hatch, like keep they awake. Really they shouldnt shrink wrap unless the humidity is to low or you keep opening the incubator during hatch..

for hatching chicks it can take up to 24 hours for them, they have a lot of hard work to do in that time. Now with that being said I watch and see if they are slowing down on the end or have even stoped and than I might help them out.. Ok so DH has made me promise to not help any out after the big hatch goes, like one's that are late. Why because most of them have problems being late hatchs'

In one hatching incubator there is 2 lights, where I have brooder bulbs, one is white & stays on, one is red & goes on & off when the element does.
So that is OK,,but in the other hatching incubator there is just 1 bulb that works on & off with the element, so I have a desk lamp with a bendable goose neck that I shine in starting on day 20 so babies stay awake & do not pip & fall asleep & get shrink wrap.

Good Morning! I traced all the air sacs on my first hatch just to learn and watch them expand. This one I did it just cause it was such a weird shape.

Rainwolf- I suspected a detachment at the first candle and that is why I didn't think it would do anything. I was surprised to see movement last night. Thanks for the info. I'm hoping for the best cause there are only 2 developing. All the rest were clear.

I candled my eggs last night, and pulled 14 definately clear eggs out, cracked them open, and it was like yellow water pouring out of the shell... There are also 5 iffy eggs, that I chose to leave in the bator, just in case. Was a big bummer to have 14 clear, and 5 way iffy eggs out of 30. But the rest have movement, with fetuses that look like they have HUGE eyes. lol was cool to see.
