Dont you just love animals when they do stupid stuff like that..
well it was an older mare and the owners were away for the weekend. the blanket she had on came undone and wrapped in her front legs...in about 2 feet of mud so she was trapped, would not have been good had I not seen her from the road. shoes wash I guess. she is ok now, trotted off after she got out of the mud... not so much as a thank you as she waved her tail at me...lol
hope your son is ok!
Gosh, I have had to this multiple times over the years. Once was a cow stuck in the mud and had to use a tractor and horses to pull her out. Had a horse get in a "sink hole" from our creek, he was not in mud, just in a deep hole. He was part draft horse and the biggest (wantabe) lap horsie you could want. Jus stood there as we dug a ramp for him in the side of the embankement. Strolled on out, hours later. And then there was the horse, during winter, that rolled and his feet ended up on the uphill side of him. There was a crust on the snow and his back sunk in the snow. Had to shovel him out too and then roll him over before he could get out. So fun.
