It's amazing how expensive things have become. Last year I ordered my mom a pretty boquet of flowers for $29.99 plus $10 to double the size and $10 for non-mother's day delivery. I thought that was very pricey, but mom lives in California where everything is very pricey, and she loved the vase it came in. This year I got an e-mail from the florist: $29.99 for the same standard boquet, no vase. Vase would be $13 more, plus $10 if I wanted to increase the size of the boquet by 50% (not by 100% like the previous year), and $15 additional for a non mother's day delivery (but still near mother's Day). I don't even know what the delivery fee is. I did not complete the order. I had Olivia draw a card, included a $20 bill and told mom to pick up some fresh flowers and some pastries at the farmers market with her friend.
Maybe you can make a quiche with your eggs - some quiche recipes are pretty easy, especially if you use a pre-made pie crust (or no crust as we do), pre-shredded cheese, pre-washed spinach and pre-cooked bacon! It still tasted pretty good. You can make in a short amount of time on Saturday and then re-heat it in the over for Mother's Day Brunch. That and some fresh strawberries, coffee, some pineapple juice or Bloody Mary's, a set of earplugs and you're set.
