My girls LOVE banana!

so do mine.. in fact the only thing they don't seem to eat is celery. Or the sweet peppper skins, after they eat the seeds off the stem thing (you know, the part you throw away..) they leave it alone. My goats were eating cutie orange peels the other day. talk about sweet breath. hahahaha

my older DS COOKED for us all tonight; grilled cheeseburger patties (with Tillamook cheese), grilled pork chops, mixed veg, stuffing, and potato slices ....

I heard that chickens eat mostly anything, so THEY got the chop bones (with quite a bit of meat left on them) after we were through -- it was funny ! they'd peck at them, the bones would bounce up and bang them on the top of their heads, they'd look startled, then go to pecking at them again

if they could talk, they'd say APPLESAUCE to the miserably cold heavy showers we had today -- it stopped me from adding the fresh new sand to their coop as well --- so they huddled in the corner third of the run that has the tarp tied down over it

DH went down to get a couple more PVC fittings to finish the framework for the chicken tractor -- guess what? they were all sold out and the ones he wants are on back-order ... no promised ship date

but he did get the chickenwire to cover it; he had to figure out for himself, what length and width would work for what he has in mind

also yesterday, we unearthed several good sturdy pallet-board platforms, several 6x6 fence posts ... AND some 1/4 inch heavy hardware cloth, that had been hiding under a bunch of blackberry brambles ... one of the platforms even still has the triple-brush boot cleaner attached to it -- that will go at the entrance to the chicken run ... I spotted a pile of roofing shingles too, but it got too miserable for me to retrieve those before the wind and rain started

this run will be very nice WHEN and IF we ever get it finished

since it isn't pouring at the moment, I'm letting them stay out of the coop until they decide it's bedtime --- for such a miserable day, it's staying light rather late

I dont see it as disrespectful at all. As I call the woods my church. Im of the mindset that, "Why do I have to go to a MAN made building to be with my god/dietys?" A man made structure is not what I need or want to be close to my beliefs, but I tend to be an oddball, and have chased off missionaries by asking them that same question. And I have yet to have someone be able to explain why a building is the only thing that should be called a church...

Sorry if I offend anyone, its just my way, and I understand whats right for me is not right for all.

So, I'll put in my 2 cents in hopes that it is just to clarify and not to offend! I respect everyone here and their beliefs and would never purposely hurt anyone.

"Church"(according to the Bible) is not a building. Church is defined as a group of people. 1 Corinthians 12:13,14
Church was (and should be) just people getting together to learn about what God has done for us through his Son Jesus Christ and to praise and thank Him for that.
We(the church) are also supposed to be a support system for each other. Life is hard and we need each other to vent to, ask questions of, and just to tell us we are loved and appreciated and missed when we are not around.
The building is only for convenience. Man has turned it into something it was never meant to be.

I do believe that that in order to support one another that you should meet regularly (Hebrews 10:25) but it should not be about "duty or obligation"; it should be because you want to.
Sorry if I have offended anyone, it was not my intent to do so.

Now,unless someone has Q's, I'll shut-up about it!

I didnn't know how to say all this, you did a good job. I am fairly new as a Christian, but I do find my peace and tranquility in many ways....and one of them is through my chickens. Very entertaining. Also, I still think that God has a sense of humor.

on your son and his wife.

Just had a near identical conversation with my mom about my brother. Mom brings them food, cleans their house cooks for the grand kids while his wife sits on the couch with her books and a pack of smokes. ... and mom has had 5 back surgeries in the past 3 years. Can't say things are much better here. DH has not given me a birthday present or card for any occasion but valentines since we got married (and then I think it is only for the fringe benefits he hopes to get later). Used to make me very upset, even dragged DH to counseling over it, and then got angrier cause nothing changed and I spent the $ I could have bought my own gift with paying the counselor! Now I just get together with a bunch of girlfriends and about once a year someone will rent a cabin somewhere for a girls weekend away.

I was the most HORRIBLE "hostess" in the world...even if it were for just a few minutes. I didn't even offer to let them use my restroom....

what was I thinking. I tried to show pette63 my chickens real quick and of course the dogs were mauling her....Peaches the antique cat came to say HI and get a lovin. We loaded the fence, chatted for a few and I said....I realy got to go get some lunch and run. Did I offer them a glass of water? NO! bathroom? NO! I felt so bad after they left. Worst, worst hostess ever.

4312!! you are so exaggerating!!

It's cool! we had fun with what little time we had and as a former vet tech I'm used to animals mauling me!! LOL Besides we had to stop and refuel anyway!! Silly girl!! I think the fact that it bothers you is evidence enough that had we had time we would have had a lot of fun!! Be ok!!

I found this one that I think I might try. All I need is the PVC, I already have a properly fitted harness, all sorts of padding, vet wrap, wheels, axcle, ect.

I see my spell check has gone missing again... Grr.

Oh that looks perfect! That one on EBAY wasn't even that nice and SPENDY! If you can get the wheels off something from a thrift store, better yet!
Wish you were closer, I'd give you all the PVC stuff. DH kinda went overboard when he did the cabin plumbing, so I have a small stockpile...

Fortunately it's pretty cheap...
Um. You KNOW you have to post pics of what you come up with, right?

Oh. And you could add a little bracket on one side and put one of those little bike flags on it! Or Harley handlebar tassles...!

We went to the freeway by way of Carpenter and Martin Way today, and saw where they're clearing for the road widening starting on the 17th (information provided for anyone who finds themself in Lacey and wants to avoid the traffic circles: take Kinwood instead, avoid Martin and Marvin and the 111 entrance to I-5 unless you actually need to be there: otherwise take the Nisqually or Martin Way interchanges!). There's a quarter mile of board fence, most of it pretty old but some of it good, lying bulldozed into piles with fir branches and stumps. What a waste!

It'll be good to have that route widened and with an actual roadbed, since it's one of those cow-paths that got graded and turned into a one lane gravel road and then paved by some developers without ever being built but it's a shame that Lacey is losing about two acres of the Lake Lois Preserve to do so.

I've got a ten foot piece of 3/8" CDX that the honyocks were using as a snowboard jump up on the hill. I warned them that the cost for me moving it was one sheet of plywood; turns out it was also one six foot chunk of 4X4 and two pressure-treated 2X4s. UNfortunately for me they were attached to the plywood with 20p sinkers and then clenched so taking the lash-up apart is going to be a treat. On the other hand: I now have sheathing for the roof and north and west walls of the chicken coop! As soon as I find someone to cut them up!

I have heard of a wormer that doesn't require tossing eggs. BUT last I knew you couldn't buy it in the states and had to order from like the UK or something. And from what I saw it was rather pricey. Sorry don't recall the name seems like it may start with a V

I use Molly's herbal wormer when I know the eggs will be eaten.

Yea I'm this far behind.

Wow, haven't seen you in awhile. Welcome back. And I note in my original post that I have been doing a lot of "studding"..not studying. Um...no I have not been tire studding or anything else...I meant studying - as in reading up on and researching. Wow. I gotta pay more attention or drink less wine when I am on here.
