Interesting, the front one looks like what we thought was a Welsummer and the one in the back looks like what Blehyls called the Sagitta?? Funny how different places call them different things and then the only way you know is when they grow up, unless of course you order them straight from the hatchery. Cute babies tho!!

Congrats! That sounds like a good hatch so far. So I'm curious what combination makes a sex linked olive egger?

I have a Golden Cuckoo X Black Copper Marans hen who looks like a golden cuckoo Marans covered by a Lavender Ameraucana Roo. The cuckoo gene will only be passed to the males. So the chicks are all black, but the males have a white dot on their head, similar to Barred Rock Chicks. Anyone want a barred Olive Egger roo? I now have 3 and don't need any. One is older, 3+ months. The other two are just hatched. All these olive egger babies are also split for lavender. The older roo and girls I have, have nice big muffs like an ameraucana. In fact, the girls look just like a black ameraucana if they inherit the pea comb! I got pure black am's from CL, and I had to band them all to tell them apart. The barred roo's will be really handsome! I also have 10 more of these in the bator scheduled to be locked down on Tuesday.

And just what special things did to make you dislike me so much. If I was to show up wiff duckles dat would be worser than bringin home chickens that lays them nasty white eggs.

My DH has the same opinion of nasty white eggs that you do! On Easter, the kids were bummed because they had no eggs to color since ours come pre-decorated, so I went out and bought 2 Austrawhites at the Grange. DH said "NO MORE WHITE EGGS." I'm saying no more chickens - I am up to 45 + hatching eggs!!!! Only 12 are old enough to lay, and 4 of those are broody

I need them all to lay - HUGE demand for eggs here!

I can't do it - I felt so guilty leaving those cockerals with Scott even though they have it nice there for now. They kept running up to the fence and following me around. Darn. I shouldn't have spoiled my food. Sweet boys.

So, what did Johnny Depp showing up in a pirate hat and Mr H's bathrobe mean?

I wan't that dream!
I dreamt rats were taking over my chicken house cause I saw one in the dog-kennel run the other night, and it has meen creeping me out for 2 nights now. Rats creep me out - I think of the scene from Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" where the boy is locked in the meat packing plant every night.

But straight from the hatchery doesn't mean you are getting a particular breed. It only means that once feathered out the bird should resemble the breed you ordered.

REALLY?? so if you order RIR's or Welsummers, then you may not get that?? Dang!! Can't trust anyone!! Didn't know that CR thanks for clearing that up!!!

Good for you. Ya' know, so that no one else has to go through this...or maybe to bring some of these things to their attention....you may want to write a letter to the board or the "head-cheese" of the clinic. Someone needs to know so that this does not happen again. The nice nurse was probably new and had not been poisoned by the rest yet.
