If it is lower, I'd wait one more day!
I had that happen before & on day 24 all the eggs hatched.
I now use 3 or more thermometers per incubator, 2 digital and 2 mercury types.
All read differently!

Thanks for responding. I appreciate the input.
We gave up on this batch last night. Most of the eggs were still runny and undeveloped. Sigh.
The new thermometers should come on Friday. Both are digital. One checks the humidity, also. I will find a couple different mercury type ones, also. Sounds like a good idea. Even though they all will most likely be different, I would think the average of them all might be pretty close.
We'll just try again.

Were some of those eggs the ones you got from me?
If so, I will save up some more & ship them to you free, you just paypal the shipping...I know the eggs were fertile & good, but I hate to see your incubator has failed you, it is so disapointing to have to toss an entire set out!!!

If it has cooked for a season & turned, to get the seeds killed off, then it will work good enough.

ok were officially in lockdown!!!

Thank you so much broody for the picture it helped bunches!! out of 15 eggs there was only one clear, and most of the other eggs had large air sacks like the pic!! I thought....could have been my imagination tho, that I actually saw some movement!! not sure if that was wishful thinking or reality!! so we will see in three days, which means my signature line is wrong, they should actually hatch Saturday same as Tamara!! Wow!! that's kinda weird!!

She must have been watching "The Quiet Man" LOL!

on a side note, I was at a fly-in (aeronautical style) on that May 18th --- one of the planes that came in from Portland area, had been flying right next to St Helens when it erupted -- and they had cameras !!!

many of the still pictures you saw then, were shot by those two guys --- that wasn't WHY they'd had their cameras with them, but they sold the undeveloped rolls of film to the local media ... were still rather in shock too (luckily the wind was blowing the other way)

well I can tell you that my sister and I were on our horses in our pasture, in Grandview down here, we jumped off and unsaddled and ran in the house to watch TV, Yakima got covered, we however got a sprinkling and were spared pretty much, then we watched in horror the news about the people left on the mountain...hm come to think of it, I have the documentary, think I'll watch that today!!!

Thank you for asking the questions, and thank you RW for the information. I think when I set my next hatch I'll use a hygrometer so I'll know what's going on with the humidity during lock down. I'm wondering if after the first few chicks hatched that there wasn't enough humidity for the remaining few eggs.
Still so much to learn - but I'm pretty happy with my first time results.

My humidity always seems to spike as the chicks start hatching and then normalizes some. Maybe that has something to do with my hatcher being homemade.

That happens to us all, and is due to the chicks being wet when they zip out.
As they dry, the humidity will return to normal if you have good ventilation.
