I noticed !

Oh, thank you. You're so sweet!

I noticed too - and that may be a side benefit to acquiring our birds from someone we know. I'm reminded of you often when I interact with our light sussex and barnevelder and appreciate the care they were given before they came to live with us. I also think of you when I'm enjoying my chicks since 2 of them are the light sussex's babies. They are growing like crazy and are so personable. The little roo will have to find a new home and I worry about his future, but I sure am attached to them. I'll have to post pics of them soon since all the chicks are nearly out of their "ugly" stage.

Welcome! Glad you found us here!
Your set up is very cute! You need the big Winlock egg to go with that big chicken!

I'm in Chehalis so I am very familiar w/ Winlock. Use to live in Napavine which was even closer.
Things can get very chatty at times so you may want to do some typing exercises to get prepared!

You know, now that you mention it....I think an egg on the right side of the picket fence would look great!
My dad and his family had a chicken farm in Winlock-love the area! I even like Napavine and Chehalis. (I love it when out of towners try to say Chehalis) Heck, I love it when they try and say Lebam!

Yeah, pronunciations help me to know who to hang up on! Just kidding! I try to be civil to telemarketers until they don't take no for an answer.
I think we used to play Lebam teams when I was in HS at Napavine. Probably lost to you guys. We lost to just about everyone.

CL- Just think about how all those employers would feel having teens working for them. In my experience, there would only be a small handful willing to work diligently. The rest... well... corp training might be good! Boot camp to whip them into shape so they are ready to really work! Attitude is everything IMHO.

Yes, I totally agree.
Not all our kids can work at Burger King.
LOL...the immigrants have taken most of the "starter" jobs like that.
I would love to see more vocations open though, welders are a plenty.
What about CNA work, or fisheries, something useful!!
These kids are so bored in HS, they need serious input, not dragging boring useless books & lectures on Social Studies or commercial studies..blah blah...
How about vocational Architecture?
Engine workings & repair..
Something that leads to GAINFUL employment EVEN IF the kids decide to go on to college, at least they can immediately be hired on in a doctor's office, for example WHILE they attend college.
Far too many kids dropping out of college cuz they cannot find gainful employment.
They cannot work at Burger King part time & go to school and pay their apartments, car payments & utilities nowdays.

I don't have any great suggestions. Gift certificates? Home canned goods? They could probably use a drink by the end of the school year, but I guess alcohol wouldn't be appropriate.

We didn't gift our teachers every year except for a few that Lily thought were really special. I remember one year at the end of 6th grade (I think) when she insisted on giving her teachers a pineapple and hand made a card for each of them that said "Golden fruit for a golden teacher". It was all her idea and it still makes me smile to think of it.

Why on this Earth are you giving any teachers any gifts ??????????????????
It is their JOB to teach.
They get a PAYCHECK & great benefits and vacations and retirement.
No one else gets a """GIFT""" for doing their job.
Think about it, if you actually gave a gift to everyone who was just DOING THEIR JOB!!!
The meter reader, the garbage man (he needs a gift bad!!

)
the poor soul running the 7-eleven
The gardeners, the power line guys...
What about the poor guy scrubbing the toilets ?!?!
The janitors..scraping the kids chewing gum off the floors...
The kitchen staff sweating in the HOT kitchen.
Think about that.
I would not give a second thought to giving a teacher a ""gift""" geeeze.........

Seriously!!!

LOL, I agree. I guess if its the kids idea and they come up with something on their own because they really like their teacher I would help them. I would encourage that kindness in my kid. But I never mentioned it if my kid didn't. SOME teachers do go above and beyond. We should let the good ones know we appreciate them but we could go broke giving gifts to all the folks at school who bust their butts for the kids.

Wonder if Jim would collect some more of those B RIR eggs for me to hatch. I feel terribly about only ending up with one. And I think it's a roo on top of it.

Yes, volunteers especially.
At the nursing homes, hospitals, pet shelters & schools, all over is volunteers.
I just donated a painting for an auction for the PAWS shelter here, all run by volunteers.
If anyone deserves a gift, it is volunteers !!!
