Morning (almost afternoon) back at you!
Sorry to hear you have a sore throat .. maybe just allergies ?
Probably allergies complicated by sleeping on my back/snoring because of hip and rib pain. I feel less dead than I did an hour ago, and am actually dressed and all that jazz. I'm going to feed the beasties and stay away from the worst of the outside work until tomorrow; I've got plenty of small tasks, like fixing my favorite grabber, that have needed done for weeks. They're all fiddly stuff involving the magnifier light, whittling bits of wood or plastic, and a lot of waiting for the glue to cure, so I've been putting them off to try to get the big stuff done first with less than satisfactory results.
It would be nice to have a way to tool metal replacement parts for the bits of the grabbers which failed because they're made of polystyrene and not because they're just badly designed. The thing I'm fixing now failed at the point of the handle where the index finger presses to close the jaws: who would have guessed? It's definitely designed as if the person who drew it didn't think about differential stresses very deaply: there's a cut-out for the finger to fit snugly, which guarantees that the most pressude will absolutely be put at the point where there's the least material to take the load.
Is it cynical of me to think they wanted it to break after a finite and relatively small number of uses?
