That's why my DW stayed home. It did not make any sense for her to go to work once you factor in fuel, auto maintenance and clothes. We ended up doing daycare which we ended up not liking to much but it help with the bills. Now she is a stay at home mom with a 14,12, 5 and infant doing home school.

yep me too! I stayed home for 7 yrs then I got the big D and had to go back, now I'm an empty nester and I'm a stay at home critter sitter!!! LOL! (Which btw was my pet sitting business name) !! LOL

1st off I am so sorry that you had to "fly the coop" so to speak!! But, really glad your back, we miss your sense of humor and the pics of your wonderful wood work!!
2nd SOOOOO glad that your DW is now "on board" with your flock!!! It's nice to share those things with our family!! Terry really likes the BO's but, I told him we can't keep everything I incubate or we are going to be over run!! So, I do have a very colorful roo, he's kind of a "chicken"

But he's not mean or anything? I posted pics of him a few posts back. He looks like Kaneke's (sp) Avatar
Anyway, glad your back buddy!

I forgot to give you a sack of newspapers! Can I get a do-over for this week?

Deirdre, if your chicks are still freaking out about the newspaper -- try a layer of paper towels on top, that gives them slightly more traction, and "feedback" to the bottoms of their feet

meanwhile, your namesake pullet blessed us with another egg, as did her cleanfaced roommate Phoebe

at least I am guessing it is Deirdre's ... she and Christina are laying eggs the same color -- but this one is closer to the size of Deirdre's earlier output rather than Christina's; besides, it's her turn, Christina laid her first one yesterday

still a lot of noise out in the coop, so could be there will be another one or two later today ... eggs seem to be arriving between 1 and 5 every day so far

all of them are going after the Oregon grape berries -- it's funny to watch them leap madly into the air after those ... I grabbed a handful from the middle of the bush where they couldn't reach, and watched them dive into the grass after I scattered those

This is the exact reason that I went to work for myself. DH works, and I work, but only for about an hour a day, AND I can take my DD with me! The cheapest daycare I could find around here was $650 a month. Thats way more than we could afford.

Dont forget to rest RFF! Your gonna need it.

I came home early from work today...I'm going to TRY to work four days next week....but I'm not sure if I can or not. I'm just exhausted. There is no "surge of energy" or "nesting" for me! I have been having Braxton Hicks all day...my ankles are the size of cantaloupes, my pelvis hurts and I just feel like crap!
