We're staying with our in-laws in Germany. My MIL doesn't think that feeding the chickens is an issue - she says that another of the neighbors does it too. I'm not sure if we have any oatmeal. Germans think of oats as food for pigs and horses.

But old bread is a possibility.

Seems they are on to me and have my number. Yesterday afternoon I got a call from a lady who has bees in 3 large trees. She said she was given my name and # by the county extension office.

Given all things involved like it is too late in the season, the bees are inside trees that must stay live and that I have no boxes to put said bees in even if I did go. I took the time to answer her questions and educate a little bit about honey bees. I told her that as much as I hate to say it sometimes if the bees must go there is only one last resort way (I don't want to be part of that). I then thanked her and kindly told her of a fellow beekeeper who I am sure will jump at the chance. The guy has been known to free climb 60-70' up into trees and use a butterfly net to catch a swarm. Sorry but I don't want / need more bees that bad.

Yes, Wednesday is a bit late to talk about my weekend - so I wont.

Pfft.

Had fun driving around the state and meeting BYC'ers and getting new birds. CCG, Cheryl98117 and Ogress -- all super nice folks. Even Ogress

OK, here I are.

Rustler, tried to get pics of my wagon wheels but as usual first I'm out of memory and then the battery was exhausted. I have the same wheels as you do except mine still have a few wood spokes, rim and the axle piece. Looking to replace them with some really nice heavy duty wood ones.

Illia, if you are still here show us new pics of your greenhouse. Did you get a second one up or just the one? How big is it?

Velvett, Good to hear from you. Congrats on the egg! That's my girl.

RonB, congrats on your new babes. Hope there's a few more this morning.

Where is Chicky these days? I know shes busy making pickles but she hasn't even checked in. Kind of like me I guess. I signed up on facebook as a request from my niece but never go there. She calls me a Facebook Ghost. Chickies a BYC Ghost.

Welcome to all the newbies and that includes the imposter!

Finally scored on an extra fridge from Craigslist yesterday to store more produce. Now I can start harvesting a day earlier for co op and my fridge in the house won't be packed with stuff. I picked up a Thursday Farmers Market so I can store extras from Wednesday co op to take on Thurs.

OK, off to harvest for co op. Need to get greens harvested before the sun beats on them. Going to have awesome weather the next several days! Whoo hoo!

Rustler, Thanks for the email

It's the same big one as last time I was here. It's 60' x 20' x 13' h. I'll get some new photos of it today. I haven't taken any "full view" or panoramic type photos of it in a while, mostly just details on the different plants/fruits.

Don't have any grapes...but I'll keep that in mind. We fed them some old bread (totally whole grain though, with sunflower seeds in it), and they loved it, even though it seemed kind of hard, IMO.

I was wrong on the number...now I'd say there's more like 50-60, nearly all hens. They all come running to the fence as soon as they see us, even though we haven't been going there long.
