Anyone know where Chickielady has been lately?


She gave me some Tomatillos and yellow Ground Cherries (seeds) months ago, and, well, they're producing and ripening now, and I'll first say this - I've never had a Ground Cherry before, but, I tried my first one today and WOW!! It was like mixing a good sweet cherry with pineapple marmalade or something. Who knew a nightshade could produce such a dessert-quality food?

I'm definitely saving seeds and growing more in a couple months!

Speaking of biohazards, the stupid coyotes are messing with our attempt to get rid of apple maggot and other diseases of old orchards. Free ranging under the apple trees last year put us a little ahead, but unfortunately it's not going to happen this year.

I noticed my apples looked less scabby this year. Has the summer been too cool for scab, or have the chickens made a difference?

Well something is going on down on the reservation...2 state patrol, 3 tribal police, 2 county squad cars, 2 medics, and the ladder truck just blew past my place...

Makes me very happy to not live IN Indianola... Way to much activity down that way.

Ive noticed the same thing. But I have also noticed that the apples arent anywhere near where they should be by this time... They are less than half the size they normally are for late summer, are showing no red coloring or yellow for that matter, just bright green hard as rock apples the size of an over sized golf ball... But at least I have apples this year! I didnt get a single one off my trees last season. I donteven know what type they are. lol But they sure are sweet tart andoh so juicy when ready!
