Ok quik update on RedReiner. She's been busy like everyone. Unfortunately she recently lost Hoss to a rather large coyote. So now she is on gaurd, and more than ready to thin the pack. Guess this pack of yotes wiped out a neighboring flock of chickens and turkeys. She is also getting ready for a horse show coming up in about a week I think is what she said. Its just the busy season for us horse folks

Thank You for the PM and the hello. I did get a little miffed at the !!! in your Post Rob but water off a ducks back you clarified, I was fine. I do appreciate it. I know you were not trying to be rude. once the weather broke I needed to mow, and mow and fence and try to get my arena reworked so the water does not destroy it again this winter. so been busy with the tractor and mowing the former swamps back into pastures. then my desktop blew the power supply and I do not have another so using ancient laptop...hard to type on and it is sloooooooow..... wed. Hoss was killed protecting his flock from the coyote and it truly bummed me out as I had only 5 of his babies here. 4 are roosters.... so I am collecting eggs from the blue girls and am going to try and get some hatched. I have a litter of 6 minpin pups...good lord the poop....

and next weekend I have a reining show here in Monroe, trying to ride and be ready while dodging stupid crohns attacks. so no worries I am still around but am engaged in a war at the moment... I will win... I have night vision...the yote does not.

I am so sory about Hoss.

thank You Rob and Jbear, he was quite the impressive boy and too very good care of his girls. I was so mad that I ended up sick from all the stress. maybe one of his sons will grow up to be just like his dad.

So sorry to hear about Hoss. I hope his boys grow up to be like him too. He was a beautiful boy and I know you cared for him a great deal.

Here I thought you guys had all been so quiet all day only to find I had somehow unsubscribed myself.

So sad about Hoss

He's the reason I got my orpingtons - just had to get me a huge rooster like him.

I had DH make me a mojito - I have to keep watering it down just to drink it!

hiya all!

i need help! we are going on vacation in a couple of days and i desperately need to get rid of a few cockerels!!!! in-laws are staying at the house for us, and i don't want them to have to fish naughty cockerels out of the trees every night at bedtime! ack!

i thought i had someone lined up to take them, but she is suddenly not returning my calls/texts (hope she is okay!) and we are leaving on tuesday!

i have: 3 13 week old naughty adventurous handsome barred rock cockerels (one of whom is crowing, which is reason #2 they gotta go - i love my neighbors and they love me and i want it to stay that way!!!) for free - take them take them!!!

i also have a 13 week old black orp pullet and a splash orp cockerel that i'm looking to sell together - not nearly in such a hurry to get them out of here. i will probably also have a blue orp cockerel to rehome. despite my best efforts not to, i ADORE him so am not quite ready to part with him yet - and when i do, it will have to be the perfect (non-soup-pot) home!!!

if you know anyone, please please please pm me!

thanks! i sure wish i had time to come on here more often... i'm not sure when life got so busy!!!!

Okay, your squash/pumpkin plants have the yellowed leaves. I have read this this is some form of an airborne fungus. Is this your feeling? what do you think it is caused from.

We have a huge pumpkin plant that is a free growth in my compost pile. It has 3 tremendously large pumpkins on it. Crazy plant.

Yes & No. The yellowed leaves are from the mammoth pumpkin.
And no, it is not a fungus, but caused by too cool of temps in evenings.
This year, it has been around 55 at night here, and that makes the pumpkin mad.
It has not slowed him down at all though!
And the sweet meats, bananas, zuchinni & spaghetti squash are fine, no yellowed leaves.
Funny, if we have a series of hot days, the leaves on the pumpkin will green up.
That, and the oldest leaves at the beginning of the pumpkin, WILL yellow & die off as the vine grows.
So now I can finally see what is in the center of the planter box!
I cannot believe how many winter squash are hiding in that jungle !!!
