My sister is an allergist. There are a couple of lines of cats that were bred to have no dander. They are VERY expensive. Otherwise, individual cats (and dogs) are more allergenic or less allergenic, not breeds.

Another sleepless night for T Hi......... The hardest part of this whole separation thing is the night time. It is pretty darn lonely.....

When it gets quiet my brain won't shut off......

So It is 1:20am and I am diving head first into a movie and glass of wine.

On a good note, yesterday when we bought the roofing for the run, the man at the hardware store said he had several feeders in his barn and I could have them! Said he would clean them up and bring them in to the store for me today so I can pick them up after the grandsons leave tonight. That is one more step towards getting my chickies!

I have to herd her to the new coop when she's done. My husband has strict instructions that she is never to be off the nest for more than 20 minutes (30 minutes in guy speak) at a time.

Good luck - I hope your hatch turns out great. And if you end up not having a great hatch, I'd be happy to share chicks that hatch from our broody (also from Candy).

Our Deleware is exhibiting a really weird behavior. She will suddenly look down back up several steps; and then proceed as if nothing happened. Most often when approaching the food or water. She will do this several times a day.

??? Any guesses? Just a "special" chicken?

yes, Toni, I remember the loneliness ... BUT free of the aggravation and frustration of not being able to FIX the situation

cultivate your patience, better things are coming .. and yes, movies and engrossing books are lifesavers

that $372, by the way, is why my run is "roofed" with a big silver tarp, held up by the big PVC pipes laid across the top of the fence wire; but of course I will have to make something more substantial when the fall rains start

luckily DS works at a place that gets lots of pallets and boxes made of boards, so I will scrounge their discard bins next time I do a CARE package run to him

my sympathies to all with "rebellious" and "angry" offspring, since I've been dealing with that for thirty years now --- DS is currently on work-release, after having broken his probation from DUI (caught without valid insurance !!! what a dumb thing ... if only he had told us he needed a loan to afford it !) -- he got a taste of dealing with obstreperous teen males with the son of his former live-together, but it didn't fully teach him the lesson ...

yes, I know all about DHs who "are only trying to help" ... I haven't yet managed to get through to mine that I want help only when I ASK for it, and if he sees me struggling he hasn't learned to ASK first if I want assistance ... usually I wind up dropping/breaking/tripping or whatever, and his interference usually causes me to forget what I was planning on doing next ...

so I yell ....

anyway, let's see what those next few days bring ... I know on Maui we saw the broodies get off the nest for extended periods, yet still hatch out ten or twelve little ones
