BTW fer you gardener folks. I trimmed my tomaters did I done it right. I figured that anything on ther wasn't gonna ripen if they kept puttin on the new growth so I gave em a SEVERE hair cut and boy are they goin now. Yup if it didn't have maters on it I cut it off. Don't worry the colors are really washed out in the pic.

White Tomatoes are sooo good!

Personally, and because I have a greenhouse, I'm all about encouraging new growth, so I don't know what to say in your case.

S Hooks! That's it! You can tell I don't know my way around the workshop very well.

A new question. My three girls are fairly young, hatched in April and May. They did not have roosts at their previous home, so will they just learn how to get up on ours by themselves? It is 3 feet high (they are large girls, Sussex and Orp). Is that too tall for them? Would it be better if we had a couple older girls to show them how to roost and where to lay (when they are ready)? I am thinking about getting two more hens, who are already laying, who could show them the ropes....what do you think? Uh oh, chicken math strikes again!

I'm just so sick & tired of fires! I told DH that I'm about ready to move somewhere else.

I HATE rain but would love a few inches right now....it's supposed to be record high temps here the rest of this week...at least right now the winds are calm....and it does cool off nicely at night...but I'm a little on edge after almost losing our home two years ago and then two weeks ago and now this.

A newborn adds to the drama/pressure to make sure we make good decisions.

yes, my friends in the Hill Country in Texas are thinking/feeling much the same .... even over here on the "wet side", our grass has gone completely dry and beige/brown ... the chickens have a hard time finding much to forage on, even the plantains and dandelions are dried up and frizzled ... they've eaten almost all the berries they can reach off the Indian plum, Oregon grape, and snowberry bushes; I scrounged some of my neighbor's fallen wormy apples, and they've been having a ball picking/chasing/soccer-playing with them, all over the run ...

get a picture of them doing that!

I don't have to worry about trimming mine. The deer have done it for me!

Red enough?
I do this but only at the very end of the season, another month for us.

Here's a picture to dissatisfy Chicken Rustler's appetite.

Those green ones are indeed ripe in there, too. Same as the white and orange.

Oooh, and another bowl of goodness, this photo taken a few weeks ago. Again, the color is right and ripe. Some green, brown, orange, white, etc.

Always love the long thin peppers shown there. Despite their appearance, they are candy-sweet, not a note of heat, and sooo good on a pizza. They're so pretty an awesome looking, and sometimes will grow in a very sickle or hooked shape.

everyone wants pictures from me -- buttttttt ...

DH lost his camera somewhere, it's the only digital camera we had

DS did have one but it quit working ... and I don't know where he stashed it or if he tossed it
hu.gif

luckily he had managed to download all the chicken pictures he'd taken, to his computer

UNluckily, that means all the pictures he took while the grandkids were visiting, are GONE ...
barnie.gif

also means we are without a camera ... I do have some manual film type cameras, but no current dated film
and no scanner to upload them anyway

so if you want to see my hokey-pokey rooster ...
or my soccer-playing pullets

you'll have to come down to my messy house and yard
