Ah okay. Those Shamos are still pretty interesting though. Last I remember you were considering doing a breeding of Shamos over BCM's, for a meat bird? I may have that all wrong, that's just how I remember it. But it sounds like you're still definitely breeding the Shamos.

That was indeed a consideration, until when I hatched the eggs, it turns out my Tolbunt Polish's semen can last in a hen for longer than 4 weeks - And this is what popped out.

So I got some BIGGER hens now, the Sussex, and have some eggs in the bator. These are definitely not going to be mistake mutts this time.

Ilia, that picture makes me miss my chickens! Now I have ducks. I have to be practical...can't get carried away.....I will not buy anymore birds.....ducks make me happy....3 ducks make me happy....

I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but what would one do with newly hatched, mutt cockerels one knows one doesn't want?

Eat it or sell it.

If it's big or meaty enough I cull 'em and feed them to the dogs, but if it is pretty enough or, say, an EE or Olive Egger, I sell it.

Exactly. The trick is going to be culling cute, little chicks I don't want to spend time and money on.
