Well, went to the vet to weigh the pumpkin, and it is 66.9 pounds!
Alot lighter than it looks!
So it will spend the next few weeks at a Pub where locals can guess the weight & whoever is closest wins something.
My neighbor owns the pub (and also drives the school bus!) and she loves doing contests like this.
So, just planted the last 3-20 foot rows, of winter garden, a big experiment.
1 row of Flashy Trout's back lettuce (Strawberry Cabbage Lettuce, the heirloom name)
Danish Ballhead cabbage (about 10 in the row)
Red Cabbage (about 8 in the row)
and the final row is Black seeded simpson, a pack of seeds I found from 2010 that I forgot I had, so we'll see if they grow.
The rest is planted:
beets (cylindrica)
Brussels Sprouts
Radishes
broccoli.
Illia: Did I send you any of the "Fast break" cantalopes?
If not, you gotta try them next year!!
They climb well, too, a bonus in the green house.
I had/have 5-10 melons per vine the size of softballs...VERY sweet and honey-like fragrant.awesome.
I grew them in my greenhouse in a tub as an after thought as Dad got the seed....Going to plant them again next year for sure but I could not remember if I sent those to you or not? Or any of the pumpkins?
I sent a bunch of seed to Rainwolf, too..so cannot remember who got what.
OK, I am off to make myself some oatmeal bread~~
Fishing tomorrow.
Apple Jelly on Thursday.
Last batch of apple butter was canned at 5 AM this morning...I have apple butter coming outta my ears!!
