Spiritwood's B'witchin Samantha

She looks so sweet Robin. Ron's dog is still kickin' around! I met her myself recently and he just mentioned that she is 15+!! We lost out Golden Retriever Kelby way too recently, at the end of August. That's why it's so hard to see Abby going downhill. She's older than Kelby by 2 yrs, so we all had it in our minds that she would go first, but it was not to be that way. It's hard no matter when it happens. Hopefully Abby will amaze us all and be here for awhile like Ron's dog. But now we have a list of "probable issues" going on with her, and are just waiting to see what happens.

This was me last January, Blue Ameraucanas, Wheaten & Blue Wheaten, and alot of the eggs were fertilized by Marans to produce a hachling that will lay an Olive egg...along with some Marans eggs.

I am not doing that as much as last year due to all the storms & stress.
We do have Dad's alarm if the power goes out, and we do have a generator..but I am tired,,,,,,,,,

Sam was 16..and could not see nor hear, and was constantly afraid, even a touch startled her.
In this pic, she was about 14.
She is still my love today, and I hope you will all be OK, it is such a tear through the heart, a deep gashing tear that just does not heal.
Ask CR....he is always with his dog Quincy..storms, rains, snow, kids born, grow up & go, but by God, that dog was always there, to hold & to protect me...the gash is so deep.
Deeper than loosing a human relative.
We see our relatives every so often, but like I said, that dog was ALWAYS there.
If I wa sick, she knew, and would lie besides the bed, always the best dog.
Always knew exactly what I said to her, always knew the tone of my voice, always.
I never had to raise my voice or fight with her on a leash, she was so smart...OK I am crying now, so talk to y'all tomorrow, gotta go close coops.
And Ron knows exactly what I mean, he was a great comfort to me when I had to take my Samantha to die.

Far away from any neighbors, too, they make a rakit, rackit, ok, alot of LOUD noise, and if you have alot of Guineas, you can go insane listening to them.

I know, believe me- I've lived with a group of feral ones in a big hollow cedar tree on a vacant lot next door (not here, though). They don't go feral around here as often as peafowl do- they're African and don't like the cold- but this group had found a safe place out of the weather. I moved to get away from them. They're excellant watch fowls, though, if you have a high tolerance for false alarms.

Unless Illia can ID my pullets really early, I'll be selling started chicks around the first of the year- the assumption being, after checking out every EE thread on the "What Breed or Gender is This?" area for months I trust my own IDs 100% at about twelve weeks (same for Wyandottes, which is the only other ones I'm paying close attention to).

OH: on another matter entirely, I finally grocked crow wing coloration a little after reading a long discussion I found about the difference between Crele (duckwing) and barred with red leakage (crow wing). I can't explain it when I see it, but I get the difference. It's on BYC and I should extract it from my history and post the link, because it was a great deal of help.

On the other hand, it would be an arguable position that I should just have gone to bed last night instead.

I'm in denial about the whole old dogs thing right now: Griz will be 15 in December, Ruby 14 in February, and both of them have had health scares in the past year.
