Jaime, I am hoping I am wrong, but after reading Illia's latest series of postings,I wonder if Hazel MIGHT be a cockerel .....

one reason, I look at the tailfeather development ... is it just the camera angle, or is Hazel's tail shorter and stubbier than Mabel's ?

anyway, they are cute as buttons ... and at this age it's hard to tell what they will come out like, though RIRs are pretty predictable

terrific

the hens and rooster have been yelling out here all day; they really wanted out in the yard but I'm too tired from yesterday; and DH is so nearly finished with his staircase, that he didn't want to stop and supervise them

so maybe they were also yelling at their incubating offspring ??

warning: the eggs from this bunch do tend to hatch a day earlier than expected -- you, and Dawn, and Dana have all seen this

let's hope Sylvia's eggs hatch along with these too

(did you ever open the "dud" eggs from the last batch to see if there was any development?)

They also make adequate wind screens for wire runs.

And I'm going to make the sheep a thorn-proof coat out of the next empty alfalfa pellet bag.

Never even thought about wind screans! Wonder if they could be water proufed with something like camp dry??? Hmm... I see an experiment coming up in my near future!

Note: I myself have saved at LEAST 75 plastic reinforced feed bags, in hopes of one snowy day (oh I said the 'S' word!

) sewing alot of square bottomed totes.
I keep saving them.....

I do think it would be nice to sew the sheep, little rain coats out of the reinforced clear tarp material, though...have you considered that?
