I make a big batch of tomato/pepper sauce and can it. Cut the peppers (red, yellow, green) into strips, cook with the tomatoes, onions and seasonings and can. In the winter this sauce is great for:-
1 - chili base
2 - cacciatore base
3 - sauce for pouring over rabbit
4 - sauce for pouring over porc, or goat or whatever
5 - base for sausage soup
6 - sauce for pasta

And a lot more things. If you don't overcook them before canning, they actually turn out pretty good, and don't take up freezer space!

Took miss Chloe to the Pumpkin patch and Corn Maze in Kingston last night. We allowed her to lead us through the maze. Took us almost 2 hours to find all the check points and then the exit! lol It was alot of fun. But I am finding myself completely worn out today. I have no energy at all, used it up taking DH to work, and feeding critters. Even Chloe is bundled up on the couch just resting...

On another note. When I go to process this roo. Should I not feed him for a while first. Will this make the clean out easier / less smelly? Thats my main fear is any smells...

What do you think..is there a distant relationship with Swedish Flower hens and Icelandics?

Vikings?

This is often the answer to any question on the Atlantic parts of north of the 45th parallel, and as far inland as Russia.

and congratulations to you.

Me, I just gave a dozen and a half to Annie and her mom, because I'm still getting a dozen or more eggs a week even with suboptimal everything, probably because the one thing they have is full daylight.

My freezer just ceased to run. Remember the day before Franklin had surgery and the washer died? Yeah, sort of like that.

when were you there?
I just got home a few hours ago, musta missed you again!
And yes, once again it was a great disapointment.
There was only 1 American class bird, and to my surprise, a mottled Java hen, which was almosy completely black and only had a few white spangles on SOME of her feather ends.
She did not apear to me to have yellow soles either, but being the only entry, she will at least get BB, BV.
There were Black Australorps...no other Americans.
No RIR, No Buckeye, NO java, no NH, NO Dellies, none.
Lotsa bantams, in every breed, and lotsa ducks, but hey, this is so close to Oregon.

I was there too, it was my first poultry show I really did not want to say any thing but I was disappointed also, except for my beautiful pullets that I got from CloverLeaf

I got them for eggs but I also want to see how they do in this country, and how they go with my other girls. I got some pics in the ducks and geese but every time I went in the chicken side they were judging and I did not want to interfer. On that side all I could see were bantams, mostly Seramas and I will not let myself get interested in those at all, they would have to be mostly house chickens here and that is a no no for me. Will post pics soon. I got to meet CloverLeaf of course, and CR, he was a busy man( unmasked) and CarolynF. I had hoped to meet more of you but I could not keep DH interested long enough to stay more than 2 hrs.
We drove 5+ hrs, round trip to stay there less than 2 hrs. sometimes I just dispair..
