I still want to get some more golden-green or something in there, and I believe it is a MUST that I get the egg from an F2 or F3 Olive Egger in there too. A nice really dark olive green, verging on reddish brown, to really connect the two (olive and marans brown)

wow so glad to have the thread back and unlocked

I missed those who didn't switch over to the Oregon thread, or post on the temporary thread ..

now I guess it's time for my nap

DH said there was only one egg in the nest box this afternoon -- I scrounged two from there yesterday

time to use up some of the surplus eggs from earlier times -- I was saving some for people who said they wanted eggs to hatch,
swapping the freshest eggs into the waiting cartons, taking the older ones out

however it seems the once-broody hens are no longer broody with the change in the weather

DS loves eating hardboiled eggs for lunches and snacks, so I'll cook up a few more for him (I suspect he is sharing some with the other guys at work too)

anyone else who needs eggs, let me know soon, since I suspect the hens may be on the edge of molting ... they ARE almost eight months old now

I took some photos which I *think* should show the bantie rooster running with the larger hens, and one of the cockerels resulting from him mating with not-a-bantam, but I also used up my battery so I need to charge it before I can download photos. I'm sitting here until 4:30 when I've got to go get a few things finished outside, and then I get to start dinner.

I'm also testing a silution for attacking PVC pipes to wire, involving Gorilla glue, paper towels, and double-headed nails. Will report back. Will also wear gloves the next time.

Okay Kaneke, this has been bugging me for weeks now - Is the rooster in your avatar a Gamecock or something else?

ok photo time... sorry for the not so great photos...

This is one of the Blue Andalusian mix hens I'm giving to a good starter flock or home flock... Justbugged

If he's an OE, one of his parents was either a hatchery Cuckoo Marans or a very poor quality Blue/Black Marans

With a comb that nice and thus said, I'm calling him an Ameraucana.

Espresso Bean is a pretty little 100% boy.

The hopeful Rosecomb is indeed a girl, 100%, but likely not a Rosecomb. Rosecombs have big white earlobes, and, well, rosecombs

She appears from the photo to have a single comb.

Thanks Illia!

Ok so the "rosecomb" that is not... what is she do you think? I got random mix eggs she hatched from so I have no clue....
