Right after I posted, I wanted to take it back with all the sad pet losses people have been posting lately!

If you want to pass out the

's, I did have a goldfish die recently; well, I don't know how recently as it was in my sons room and I don't often go in there.

I went to count the white clouds in my dd's room - used to have five - three just disappeared? I asked if they had been fed recently...she gave me that look that told me where the other three went.

The kids thought they would eat the plants.

That is such a cute little baby!!! We had a RIR B that was raised with the LS from RFF. Same kind of size differential. Squirt to this day is more comfortable with the big ladies!

Broodytood, that's exciting! Hope it's a good offer!

Illia, so sorry you have to give up your birds! I'm glad you get to keep some of them though.

4321.....LOVE the Orp/Serama pics!!! Are the blue bands on the Orps your guesses at males? I saw one pic of blue banded legs and the serama, and the Orp legs were HUGE! Definite sign of a male!

My youngest DD lost her mottled cochin showbird yesterday. Very sad day. We have one coop where we keep a few assorted bantams, and we had a mite problem in that coop only, at the end of August. We thought we had taken care of the problem well enough, but apparantly not. She had a very bad case and I think she went into shock after we bathed her and she never recovered.

So DD would like another mottled or mille bantam as her showmanship bird for 4-H. I'm trying to encourage her to move away from the feather footed breeds as they are harder to keep nice for showing, but she really did love that cochin. She also likes the D'uccles and Faverolles. So if anyone has a good quality mottled/mille fluer bird they are interested in getting rid of, let me know. We may hold out and get some mottled cochins for CCG, but are interested in hearing if anybody near by has anything else available. Of course I keep telling her we should just get more Serama's!

After a very cold morning, (low 20s and hard frost here too) DH and I built a roof over part of the layer coop's run today. Hoping that will make it nicer for them this winter and hoping it keeps the inside of the coop a little dryer as it covers the pop door and a large area in front of it. Will take some pics and post them later.

I moved a teenage pair of BLRW's into the main BLRW coop last night, and will have everyone moved around to their permanent winter locations this week. Was going to do the final move of everyone else today, but ran out of shavings. Don't feel like making a run to the feed store today, so tomorrow I can get that underway. I have younger teenagers in the basement brooders who need to move to the outside older teenager pens, so the Serama's can come in when it's cold. Their coop actually stay's pretty warm during the day as it gets really good southern sun on it all day. I've been leaving them in with the pop door shut overnight and only open it when it's warmed up a bit outside later in the mornings. I think they will do ok out there for most of the winter. Only if we get a long stretch of below freezing temps during the day will I bring them in. Unless I see issues. That's the plan anyway!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine even if it is cold out there!!

We are cautiously excited! The house we want to buy is empty and the owners said we could rent till the deal closes in case ours closes fast. Everything is falling into place but we are still cautious!
By the way, I love the joke in your signature!
