Hubby and I, and another friend, we sell Scovies and get really good prices, especially around this time of the year. I think there must be a number of Asian holidays, because we sold out our drakes in less than a week. The ad on Craigs List was taken down the same day I put it up! And, there was so much demand, they even bought some ducks, which being smaller aren't very much prized.

Also of interest, the more red caruncles round the eyes and on the face, the more they will pay. I'm not sure why, perhaps it's because "red" in China is good luck! In any event, we are going to try doubling our hatching next year, since we did so well this year.

Are you serious?? OMG! I really love my scovies, and I thought there would be a nice market here, especially given all the nice pasture and plenty of bugs!! But, they are just not moving here, I think in part because I haven't done too much marketing, I don't have a website, but I think I'm going to work on one this month. I just have sooo many, I let them hatch out as much as they wanted, bad mistake. So, at this point, I would like to down size this winter re evaluate and work out a plan to market and maybe sell hatching eggs too. I will send you a pm with some of my kids. That is good that you have been so successful! I'm just starting out so I kind of made some newbie mistakes.

Hey! Yes, I'm still interested in some 'scovies from you...only silver or lavender females or a trio of solid chocolates....I might be able to pick them up around Christmas....

DH went to the dump, and I am washing chickens.........and what a mess it is!!
I have to put straw down all over & thick in the turkey pen before I wash that big guy.....or he will be shaking spitting & vibrating in the muck all over again.
Funny how Toms 'spit' air & then vibrate with their wings down..strutting, and drag their wingtips in the mud...

Wish there was a way to put him in a big sweater to keep his wings up & clean!!!!!!!!

ok, no problem, I'm sorting today, probably keeping all the females, so I should have a better idea of exactly what color girls I have. I definitely, have chocolate hens tho. I don't however have a chocolate drake to go with them, these are all out of the blue and chocs I got from you. I do have three or even four chocolate hens tho.

Thank you for the advise and all your help! I have lost some, one to a predator, ( still not sure what) we don't have any coyotes that could get in, haven't seen any raccoons, this duckling was just too big to be taken down by a cat, but, I walked into the pen, and it was torn to shreds!! (sorry for graphic content) pieces strewin all over!!! I was so upset!! I thought it was big enough to be on its own, ( had a few eggs hatch at different tiemes) he didn't have anyone his own age and the others were picking on him! Won't do that again!!
