Very pretty! It's just fascinating that they all look so different from one another. They're like a chicken kaleidoscope.

I figure I'll try to be there around noonish.

Excellent - thank you. I figure that's about what time I'll be arriving myself, with or without DH in tow. If I DO bring him, I just want to warn everyone - he's a character. He's a very smart, sweet, well intentioned man with no filter and lacking any refined social skills. It's just the way he was born. All of us who know him well understand this and have decided to keep him anyway.

I'm just letting you know, please don't be offended by anything he says - he doesn't always realize what he's doing!

I am so glad I get to attend this year - looking forward to seeing everyone and their chickens!

I am also planning on getting there around noon. I may just be by myself. I am in serious need of some me time after the almost 2 wk visit with my mom! I told the girls they are welcome to come, but I don't want to hear any whining or complaints such as I'm Bored. When are we leaving. Blah Blah Blah!!!! Meg might come. She's very excited to get her Fav eggs from Cloverleaf!!!!

Teresa, are you bringing your DD? I think her and Meg are the same age. And they share the same love for their Serama's!!!

I have to be there before 9 to coop in, Saturday.
We are planning on loading the van with birds/etc Friday.
DH is bringing the table, A folding chair for him & my wheelchair.
Also the ice chest with brunch goodies/salad & shrimpies.
I regret I cannot get out & smoke oysters right now, maybe tomorrow I can, that will depend on if I can get all my birds bathed.
White Rocks, done.
Turkey tomorrow, & Buckeyes require very little.
Black Javas the next day (Friday) amounts to hosing their feet/shanks off.
These 2 javas I am bringing are Bowen birds, a pullet and a cockeral..barely 5 mo old....Monte has said they won't be ready,
But they are going none the less cuz I think they are fantastic!
BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
My Buckeyes are far beyond fantastic if only due to being a month older.......
Suc is life when in the American Class...I compete against myself .......................................

OK sorry this is not a very good pic but he didn't want to cooperate. This is Fuzzaroo. He is coming 3. Fuzz is very nice to his ladies and has NEVER shown any people aggression. He was a feed store chick. He also crows on request (at least for me) . I am going to miss this little guy but since I am actually starting to try to have selected breeds and am so HONORED to be getting Fudge from Cloverleaf. I am looking for a home for Fuzz. I would be very happy to see someone give him a new home. I can bring him to the show (grounds)

DID I MENTION HE IS FREE ! ! ! !

One thing I did that got me some business - I put flyers up on Asian markets' bulletin boards or windows (with the owners' permission of course.) We also offered the market owners a discount on birds for referrals and allowing us to advertise. All of the Asians we now know, and are repeat customers, prefer live birds. We have had some referrals from customers too.
We have also put flyers up in Del's, but only sold rabbits that way.

Also, pictures help! Either live birds (use your biggest birds) or nicely presented cooked. If you want the Asian market, make sure you present it the way they would eat it. If I were going for the French market, I would do "confit". . .know your market and play to it

Hey thanks!! I have put a few things up at dels and Bleyhls here, no luck... again, not that I was consistent, I really need to come up with a farm name anyway and get some business cards, I'm sure that would help, I may run by Staples tomorrow and see what I can do in a pinch.

Well, I've advertised on CL down there, a few times and have never gotten a call? I have however had some people from Goldendale come and get two hens and oh yea, some guy from Moxee called me once.... When I think of the great lengths I have gone to get mine, it's just surprises me, that they aren't moving better here?? I will have to try that, after all it is supposed to be a delicacy!!

They are great roasted plain then glazed in the last 1/2 hour with this glaze:
1/4 cup honey
1/4 molasses
3 Tbls. orange juice
1 Tbls. soy sauce
1.5 tsp of oriental chili sauce (known as cock sauce)

Good even if you leave out the chili. The glaze is from here
http://www.thehungrymouse.com/2009/02/11/the-best-way-to-roast-a-duck-hello-crispy-skin/

but I don't do a roasting process nearly that labor intense!

Wow! sounds good, oh..... got the sauce!! I was in the Navy for 15 yrs, and have been overseas..ect. I have had my share of awesome asian food...LOVE IT!! So shopping at an asian market is one of my favorite things to do, don't get to go often, but when I do I make sure I buy a nice supply of the good stuff!!
