OK Guys time to pick your brains.... Now that I am gonna have 5 Rhode Island Red Hens, instead of just the one, I was thinking how am I gonna tell them all apart?.... Does anyone have any ideas I have seen the metal leg clamps with numbers you can order online but I was hoping for an easier way to tell them apart ( that way my kiddos would have an easier time). I have heard of a few people using different color zip ties. Whats your thoughts on this? Any Ideas?

Thanks Bunches

I have various colored rings we put on our birds when hatched to tell them apart, they are spiral (plastic) spring like rings and come in different colors, but you will have to upgrade to a bigger ring as they grow.

I completely understand !
That is the reason why I have asked all here to e-mail me rather than send PMs...getting into, and opening and reading , then replying/deleting a single PM takes me about 15 minutes, with constant brain death in the computer which makes me have to sit here & hit the refresh button several times.
I am afraid one time too many & the whole thing will lock up & die completely.
That is why I asked EVERYONE to send me e-mails instead.
So I had to go in last night & read a PM CR sent, and when I did, I replied (already was In there) and when I did I asked him PLEEEEEEEZE do not send me any MORE PMs.
This obviously hit himpersonally although everyone else understood completely.
Oh, and the word he used was not "applesaucey " LOL it was alot like CCG's mushroom

Thanks to all who understand this frustrating issues with my low RAM, and I apologize for having to ask all PMs be sent to my e-mail...I have posted my e-mail addy at the sig line.
Hopefully we get the RAM thing straightened out fast !

I understand - I have not opened my last 4 or so PM's because of the time issue, and the messages pretty much show up in my e-mail anyways that let me know I have a PM.

ok, then this is what is happening. You def do NOT have enough ram; HOWEVER, since there are certain times of day when it's worse, and other times when it's better, it is almost certainly a connectivity problem. When there is a heavy load on the connection, it will slow down. Peak periods, sort of like when there is a heavy load on the electric, like in California during hot weather, you get rolling blackouts.

Same same here - WE have cable modem, and although I don't have a really fast computer, I have had no issues with the new BYC. I don't know if you have dial-up, DSL or what but this could be a contributing factor. So don't go overboard on the motherboard and ram until you know for certain. You could end up with the same problem as you have now, and have spent money to get it fixed.

Thanks for the explanation - I have DSL, sometimes I try and load a video 30X and then give up. Other times, usually at 2 a.m. it loads without a problem. The videos hang up in the beginning when MSN sticks the darn commercial in before you can see the news clip. The commercial hangs, but if you manage to get to the news clip, it will usually play fine or with minimal hang time (5 or 10 seconds instead of 10 minutes or more and then completely freezing).. If I do manage to get the commercial to play after the 30 tries or so, that specific commercial will have no issues playing for the next few days. I liked it when MSN gave you a choice of 3 commercials to play. If there was an animated commercial in the choice, like the Planters Peanuts (or was it an Almond?), the M&M guys or something like that, they have a better chance of loading than a video clip of something real.

18 to 25 seconds to go to the next page,

I keep my hotmail open and read my e-mail while my BYC pages load or while my posts post. BYC is annoyingly slow, but I can at least count it in seconds while a news video will take on average 20 miutes to load on my computer. So, who do I need to complain to? Century Tel my DSL provider?

Some of our English Orps, pic's taken last week:

Our blue cockerel Sterling, with all of our girls.

Our 3 blue girls. Penelope on the left is Sterling's mom, and the other two blue girls are her daughters.

Baxter is our main man in this flock and also Sterling and the two blue girls Daddy.

One of the new blue pullets has started laying! We got our first pullet egg from their coop this week!

Our new Serama chicks from Castle Delights!

One word of warning if you have the Brinsea Brooder and are hatching Serama's. I think they are too small to use this brooder as their only heat source from day 1. I went down there this evening and a couple of them were cheeping their "something is wrong" really loud cheap and they were cold! I had a back up heat lamp hanging over the brooder, but not low enough to keep them warm enough as I assumed the Brinsea Brooder would keep them warm enough. Most standard size chicks would be able to be close enough to the heat source in that to almost touch it. These guys couldn't acutally touch the heat source, were in fact 1-2" away from it. Since it's a radiant heat source, that wasn't good enough! After lowering the regular brooder lamp and warming them all up, they have been fine.
