I am relaxed now, and a bit sad. I was looking at photos my mom sent from a news article from in Holland. The old house that had been in her family for hundreds of years until her aunts died a few years back, burned to the ground yesterday.

Very sorry to hear this, that was a beautiful and historic home!

Thank you so much T HI. I will let you know what is going on. We are really short on cash, so I am not sure we are going to come or not. We are still talking. Oh, and just so everyone knows (cuz I like to brag)....Oldest boy took 1st in the heavy weights for Districts and 16 yo took 1st for the 152 pounders. It was an amazing day and all our Omak boys did great.

Congratulations to both your boys, that's pretty awesome!

Hi everyone! I've been on BYC for a few weeks now and somebody suggested I come check out the Washingtonians thread. Wow, a little overwhelming! You guys move fast on here! hehe
I just got my first chickens on Thursday! 25 from Ideal Poultry. They are on my back porch in a brooder and doing great so far! I'm so excited!
Do any of you have a set up where your chickens pay for themselves? If so how do you go about that? I'd really like this hobby not to break the bank lol As opposed to my horse hobby which eats all my money up.

I hope you all are having a great weekend! I'm looking forward to getting to know the people on here

I am wiped out with all the work around here. The puppies are now toddling around the house. They started to walk about 4 days ago. We are now in full Yorkie shuffling mode. There are 4 boys and one very tiny little girl. We are going to keep her. I named her Bubbles. One of the boys is much larger than his sister, so he got named Tank. I am waiting to name the other boys, until I can tell them apart. They all look like mini Rottweilers. They are now a month old today.

They must have been teeny when they were born!

I also had 8 chicks hatch last week. I thought that they should have hatched the week before, and that the power outage had done them in. So I ignored the bator, and just didn't want to deal with. I left plugged in, but I had taken the bator off the turner. Well much to my surprise last Friday evening I heard some baby chick peeps coming from the living room. By Saturday all the chicks hatched. I did end up losing one. I am not sure what was wrong with it, but it wasn't right, and started to stumble around. So my DH took care of it for me. But the rest of them are doing great.

My Porcelain Silkie hen has still not been able to join the rest of the flock. I don't think that she understands about being in coop and run with other chickens. She is doing a great job of raising the chicks that hatch in mid December. We have them in the brooder in the garage. So I have chickens in the house and the garage, and the back yard. lol

The chicks are very suspicious of me. I took them outside today for the first time.

It's just baby animal time at your house! Did your Jersey Giant eggs ever hatch?
Enjoy your new additions.

The past two weeks have been incredibly busy with horse injuries. First it was my cousins mare, she stepped on a nasty rusty 16-p nail, went right through the soft tissue of her heal. entered through the frog and almost penetrated out the top of her heal. Luckily it managed to miss all the ligaments and tendons, so just a nasty wound that needed flushing twice daily. That was almost a trip out to Pillchuck.

THEN last week one of the gedings at the barn I manage, somehow managed to step on his sheath and rip a 2" flap open on the inner sheath... Had the vet out, got both topical and feed through meds, and now I get to scrub the poor guys privates and apply topical antibiotics every day. Yeay for me. But luckily the geding is sweet as can be and very easy going.

Ouch! Horses have an incredible ability to find new and unusual ways of injuring themselves, don't they? Hopefully there won't be more any time soon!

Yes but they said that when they told him he cussed at them and called them a few names. He then went silent and didn't say anything. They said he is on suicide watch. REALLY ! ! ! like we should care! did I think that out loud?

I'm sure there's plenty of folks who agree with you there, CR!
