Wine is like chickens in so many ways, something for everyone! As soon as the weather gets better, I shall be coming by to see the wine shop.

Well dang. I haven't posted very often and joined awhile ago. I wanted a few chickens just to have something to do and maybe an egg or two in the process. Found this forum very interesting and informative.
But....................Yesterday I pulled the trigger and bought 8 rhode island reds. (went to get buff orpingtons but the reds just looked better, more active). Cute little girls I have to admit. Anyway I have them in a little pen with the heat light, etc. Worried about them last night but it was useless worrying. They did fine and today with the warm weather here in Rochester they were very perky.
I'll post some pics asap, that is if I can find the dang camera and get it charged up.
Yes, my first go at raising chickens. Got books, went to the library and purused this forum for info. Now I just have to narrow down the coop I intend to build for my "girls".

I made an emergency incubator out of a cooler and a lamp with a 60 watt bulb. and put a small container of water. At 3 this morning when I candled they still had red veins and I saw one actually move.


Just candled one and it moved.

I don't know how old it is though...

So life around here is busy, we are moving son home with us. It will be good to have him around. Im a lucky mom I love my two boys..
Putting on the eggs today to see how all the little boys are doing with the girls.

Gotta a chick problem, one of the littlest AM B s is got a walking problem. I wouldn't call it splay leg, and not sure if it's a slipped tendon?? he has a broken toe, so I put some tape on it, but, when I hobble him like a splay he goes a** over tea kettle?? I will try to figure out how to take videos with my camera and see if I can post it. Maybe someone can figure out exactly what it it?? I need to get on top of it, so it doesn't become something I can't fix!
Didn't see the light display last night. Not sure why except we had a pretty bright moon! Everyone have a good day!!

I missed the meetup last night. Wah! Ari was sick on Wednesday, and I thought she was over it yesterday, and then she puked again. So I was home with a clingy, sick girl.

I have a few lemon cuckoo and lavender Orpington chicks. I hatched them from shipped eggs a couple of weeks ago. I don't think I'll be bringing them to Monroe though, because I want to see how many boys and girls I have before giving any up.

Busy day of moving chicks.... I set up my small coop and took my barred rock cockerels outside. Cleaned and bleached my master bath tub ( where they were staying). I then moved my 4 RIR pullets into the tub. I then cleaned the brooder tote and got it ready for new babies. I am HOPING to get some Ameraucana (aka EE) n Speckled Sussex chicks tonight.... *fingers crossed* I went to the coop today and they didnt have their chicks yet.

Calling on Cloverleaf!!!! I took some pic's of my two banty Fav's, and would love your input on them. Granted, these are not the greatest pics, but I'm not sure what #2 is. He is the one I thought was blue salmon.....or is he just a messy salmon? And roo #1 is salmon, right? THANKS!!!!
