It is a very sad day today. We have decided that our little girl Shadow is making her last trip to the vet. She is no longer able to function; she has to be carried to her food bowl to eat or drink, and carried outside to relieve herself. I don’t know how much or if she is in pain, but it breaks my heart to watch her fade away like this. We shall miss her.

Hi folks...new guy here from Duvall. My wife and I plan to convert our 8x8 dog run into a chicken coop in the near future...
Cheers!

Welcome !
There is quite a few of the W-WA BYCers out your way, and most are enablers, so you will be well taken care of when the time comes to get some chickens !!

Well all my plans for this week will have to be reassessed in light of me falling in a hole and getting hung up on a livestock panel last night. The sore throat I got from screaming and screaming at my husband to come give what little help he could is not the least of my injuries. That last heavy rain plus the dating activities of moles moved the safe zone next to the fence down-hill of the house back about eighteen inches, and the first thing I need to do (after wrapping the ankle that went in the hole, which was mostly hurt when I pulled it out) is figure pout what to put in said hole so Griz doesn't modify it for nefarious purposes of escape.

The worst damage is a big bruse and abrasion to the soft unscarred inside of my left elbow and a matching gaping three-cornered tear in the sleeve of my ex-best white cotton shirt. Oh, and I seem to have reinjured the rib I cracked last summer.

ARGH

Dang ! Hope you are OK !
Lucky no sprains or broken ankle ?

No- the ankle didn't hit the bottom of the hole, for one thing, and if I'd been willing to lose my Justin barn shoe I probably wouldn't have hurt it on the way up, but, well: when you're in a hole up to your thigh and not touching on the bottom, the possibility of your shoe being eaten by the giant Ubermole seems real, especially after you hang by your elbow for a while.

I have half a broken driveway that needs to go along that wall, and no way to get it up the hill- well, the truck would work for that, but nobody at my house can load and unload the concrete.

I'm so sorry you are hurt. Doesn't it just stink getting old, um older! Take care of yourself.

How about a meet-up this Thursday, April 26, 7:00 p.m. at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park?

Who can make it? (Everyone is welcome. New peeps, this is a great opportunity to meet in person!)

For those who don't know: Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park has a community area with lots of tables and several coffee shops and fast food places. Essentially, a food court. Some of us eat dinner, some just a cup of coffee.

Stumpy is becoming a more and more appropriate nickname for you. Be careful and take it easy this week. Someone else will just have to look after the cows.
