.......poor baby, he is a big baby !!!!!!!!!!

And you will have to spend time with the Buck Chicks...hand feed them whole wheat bread & stuff so they know you are the new Mommie !

And how are your goats doing ?
Any kids yet ?
Mr Peeps is fine!! He's been gobbling at every thing that makes a noise!! LOL!! He's too busy walking up and down the fence to even notice me! But, every one seems happy and they are all eating ok, as for the Buckeyes!!

I sat in the brooder with them for over an hour talking to them and picking them up, and they seemed to be slowing down a little! I do have some bread to feed so maybe I can get them to relax!! Everyone likes there runs and I let all the smaller turkeys,( except 4312's) out with the big turkeys so they are all getting along just fine! I can see everyone from my back porch, so I am able to keep an eye on them and make sure they get along. Mr peeps is not lonely or sad!! He has his girlies and some things to jump up on, and lots of grass and bugs and food to eat, he's kickn it!!

I have 9 chicks and my 1 day late egg has pipped. Tomorrow I am moving them to the brooder and candling any that haven't hatched yet.

Some of them have no extra toes that I can see and one has too many toes on one foot. All my adult silkies have the correct number of toes so why did these happen? is it luck of the draw or is it genetics?

Where is everyone today?! My girls had a nice 2-3 hours outside today while I added litter and DE to their coop and started a list of stuff I need to finish our coop and run. I hope it happens sooner than later, the girls were so happy to be outside! What a nice day, I'm really looking forward to the next week of nice weather :)
My husband came home and said it was nice, over here it rained on and off just getting to be really nice now. He works in Renton by Fairwood.

Is Momma hen blind ?
yup she is. We got her at an auction and when we got her home we noticed she had issues with her eyes. They were runny and goopy. We cleaned her up and right away got her some medicine for her eyes. (try to put eye drops in a chickens eyes on a daily basis) did that for a week straight twice a day. after a week no more goopy eyes. They still get runny now and then when the other chickens kick up dust into them. One eye is completely white like cataracts and the other is partial white. So she is pretty much blind. I think she see's shadows on the one side and whenever she hears my voice she comes right up to me. She is one I make sure gets into the coop every night. Other than the eyes she is healthy and plump and even interested in the roosters so she's doing ok. Because of her eyes she became more of a pet to me. Hubby is the one that named her. lol! She is never going to be a meat chicken no matter what. she's a pet.

Congrats on the hatch! I know nothing about number of silkie toes so I can't help you there! How many are they supposed to have?

Are you going to leave them with the does or take them? If you take them have a double boiler to do the col. in so it wont burn keep it very low to get it to temp.
Im here also if you need me. I know you have a friend close by but just thought Id offer.

I posted over in the silkie thread. And read around a little. what I found was the incubation can cause the no extra toes problem but I had no fluctuations this time around. Last time I had the temp all over the place, still managed to hatch the 2 fertile silkie eggs and they both had the correct number of toes.
