Darn It looks like I have a cross beak now. Are all these caused by incubator or genetics.

I was doing a dry hatch so 16% huminity and 65% on day 18 till hatch is done. All the chicks made it to lock down and this last time I had 3 that did not hatch out of 13.

So, got the brooding pen up and covered in time for the earliest hatch date for the nine Hamburg eggs under Malvina. Tried to candle a couple of eggs yesterday (using the sun method) but no, my eyes and or brain still don't work that way, although none of them were see-through nor had bright sparkly bits the way the BLRW unhatched eggs did).
How long do I let the poor dear sit on unhatched eggs before I try to get her to give up/ stick new eggs under her?
I'm getting an egg a day from both the Hamburgs and the EEs, or rather I get two aqua eggs a day and one pink until Gingy lays a double-sized one and takes a few days to recover.
If you are sure its been 23 days I would choose one and carefully make a small hole in the big end. And see what you find. If she didn't sit for awhile during the beginning the chicks might have started developing later. I would wait a couple more days. My first broody hatch the chick hatched a good 4 days late.

Sorry I didn't see the post. I answered the one you did at the broody forum. I am not an expert but I have used broodys and that was going to be my main way of hatching eggs.

Today has been one of those frustrating days... I took 2 tests today for college. Not sure I did well at all on them after all the studying I did. I am having a hard time with these 2 classes as it is. I am to the point as long as I pass them I will be thrilled.

Came home and took care of animals. YUP still 10 bunnies..

I noticed my tom turkey is bare chested... seems like he's rubbed all his feathers off. So I wanted to check out the other tom and guess what? My tom decided Count choco just had to have been doing his mating thing so my tom came over to get involved. Now I got an ugly bruise on my hand from my tom's wings. UGH!!! yep Count choco is bare chested too. I am going to have to do some research on this because the girls aren't.

Last night noticed the turkey hen had smashed eggs under her and all the birds came a running. So hubby suggested just gathering all the eggs and candling them. Good ones to incubator (total of 5) Bad ones to garbage. Well I went to candle one and it made a pop sound. The smell was horrindous too.

The 5 good ones all have movement in them and good veining on them. So they went to the bator.. Not sure how old the eggs are but the bator is pretty much on lockdown for awhile. Except for the turning of the eggs.

I can hope things turn out good for those eggs...

But I did get to sit with my chickens today and have the little ones jump on my lap and want pets... so that was the good of the day.

Hey friends, I am just wondering if my fellow Washingtonians can tell me if I have enough ventilation in my coop? It's so rainy in my area that I'm a bit worried about the coop. Here's the thread where I asked about it, with pictures and measurements of the coop.

Not to burst yer happy little bubble but since you mentioned what goes in landfills. And when ya flush the torlet where do it go ? Either the ground or the nearest large body of water. Why do ya think I doesn't drank warter. Caurse itll rusty yer pipes !
In wine there is Wisdom,
in beer there is Courage,
In Scotch there is Strength
in Water there's Bacteria

Good for you CR - never drink the water!

I was at a gardening forum and someone posted this link.................

Surprised to see they are local.
I ordered some packets and looking forward to the surprise flowers.
If you are in to sunflowers you might find it interesting to read their story.

Well we are exhausted from yet another day or coop/bird/pen/brooder/garden/laundry & so on WORK.
I have spent $$$ gathering the needs for the giant lasagna, not o mention a tank of gas driving all over hill & dale shopping for all the stuff (try finding GF lasagna pasta)
We were all gathering at parents' in Elma, us being the farthest south in Raymond, and bro & sis in Puyallup, so parents' is a middle meet up place.
I am ready right now to make the lasagna (ground the pork yesterday & made sausage, made sauce today................
When I decide to check e-mails..
And there is one from Mom that says bro called her this morning & said we are having Mother's Day at his house SATURDAY instead of parents on Sunday and I am welcome to ride with parents to his house & bring my giant lasagna.
I told her NO.

She does whatever my little whiney brother wants.
Mom has pulled this crap so many times !
His girlfriend's birthday is Feb 10th (just like mine) and as long as brother has been with this girlfriend, my Mother has gobe nuts making a BD party for her.

There is no way after all my $$$$$ and 3 days of work I am going to drive to Puyallup.
So, I ain't making lasagna after all.
The sauce & all will be frozen...all the cheese, basil & motzerella stored/frozen/put away....and the 3 boxes of GF lasagna pasta we drove to Aberdeen for will keep for next time.
I am so disgusted !
This is the last straw with my brother pulling this crap.
