Sigh, I am having a hard time finding chicks here.. Since we had to get rid of my RIR chicks I was hoping to get two new egg layers that would get along with my EE's. But everyone is out of chicks. I cant order online as I can only have 4 chickens here where I live, and the least amount I have found that I can order is 5. That would put me at 7 chicks. I am bummed. My daughter is really upset. I told her we would get new babies to replace the two we had to rehome. Darn Louise, why did you have to be a Louis??

LOL!

There are several people here who have chicks! I'm in Kirkland if you're close.

The tree dark chicks here are for sale - they are the spitz-mixes that I posted a few days back. (Sorry - not the yellow one - it's taken.)

Five weeks - they have spent two nights outside w/ heat lamp.

Spitz-Black Copper Maran cross
Spitz-EE cross
Spitz-RIR cross or Spitz-Orpington cross (was the mystery brown egg - I bet Hallerlake can tell us!)

Oh my gosh so just got back in from feeding and ck on everyone. My Buff Orp thought it would be go to hide eggs from me and have some chicks. She is so cute just love her. So will have to take pictures later and let everyone see her. Im going to put some chicks that hatched last weekend under her tonight so she can raise them and I dont have too. Its should be easy to do she's a good mommy.

Thank you for the welcome...... We are looking for a place to move, so that we can do the mad chicken Math, I was raised with pigs, chickens, and a cow and goats, but seeing that i only did chores Im here to learn all I can...... I have been telling my husband for 30 years I want to raise chickens and bees, it is not a bandwagon fad for me. Hopefully my husband will come around for me.

I shamefully admit that I am not even trying to keep up here. And that I was once again startled to see wingfeathers forming on three-day old chicks. Of which there are six, photos later.

Anyway: are you brave? Do you have a big naked place in your yard? Can you afford to buy at least four 12 foot 4X4s or equivalent materials in the next ten years? Have I got a rose for you! I inadvertantly tip-rooted a cane of the Brenda Colvin rose (the big one out by the Hamburgs, Robin) and it's free to the first optimist.

Once blooming, but disease resistant shiny bright green foliage and nice, nice hips.

The flower clusters are about 18" across, and nicely scented.

Malvina and five of the kids; in the next frame there's only one visible, sitting on the red feeder. I've seen all six of them at once at least twice today for a grand total of maybe five seconds. They don't stay still much. One of them spends a lot of time bouncing up and down the steps and two others ar really fond of hiding inside that broken cinderblock.

Two are darker (Elvis and Maggie are both "dark" as in bigger spangles, so not unexpected).

I was going to make a bigger nest box today, but I go a grand total of maybe four hours of sleep last night and I have sufficient box-knife scars, thank you very extra much. They shouldn't outgrow the litterbox before noon tomorrow, right?
