Does anyone elses rooster damage the hens feathers?
Im so tired of seeing ripped up hens.

Im thinking about seperating the roosters because my son loves 2 of them so much, I cant bare to get rid of them.

Bob was hard on his girls, particularly the Australorps. The poor woman who bought the Australorps today was new to chickens and a bit dismayed at their appearance!

Right, I'm with you MikeyB. Just livestock. Nothing to get worked up about since we are going to eat them anyway. So now what should I do with this "mash" of rice, and chopped cherries and slivered lettuce and scrambled eggs? Perhaps feed it to my most glorious spousal unit

Oh my gosh, time to sit for a few min.

Well I got two of the new turkeys today, they are huge compaired to mine and the Tom has a big long beard! The third turkey is a hen (two hens and a Tom) and I guess she is really pretty. The guy that I got them from said she is all white, and is sitting on eggs in the woods, so when she comes out he will call me and I can have her and any babies that she has!!!!

Other than that I have just been cleaning and organizeing our house. I just need to get rid of a bunch of stuff. For dinner I BBQed burnt hot dogs and hamburgers and made some rice a ronie (sp?)

Also I had a few new costomers for eggs today! I like having a facebook for my farm, that is how I am getting some of my costumers.

They have chicken saddle's for hens. You might want to try that it really helps.

I had to put saddles on about half my hens. The more favorite ones have gotten really worn. Two of them to the point skin was torn. They healed up quite well and the saddles have prevented more actual damage. I highly recommend getting or making some saddles. Can use pretty fabric and make a fashion statement. I'm kicking myself for not getting the fabric with the chickens on it and making some out of that.
