I have 6 and I get anywhere from 3-6 a day. Those days I get six I do a little dance! If I have 9 layers, how many eggs can I expect to get each day? 6? 7? 8 maybe? IDK what to expect but I'm excited! Maybe it has something to do with breed as well though? I have:
1 black Australorp
1 Welsummer
1 Maran/EE (possible OE)
2 buff Orpingtons
2 Easter Eggers
1 RIR
1 GLW
Quote: To be a reportable disease, it has to be confirmed. If the bird dies, it needs to be necropsied by a diagnostic lab, contact your state vet, and some of their programs offer to cover necropsy for certain diseases they are particularly interested in....
The necropsy lab in Wa. is in Puyallup. It is not very expensive to get a chicken necropsied. I googled it for info.

I am glad your chicken is doing better. I posted because I have doubts that she has Marek's. Sounds more like the "lethargic" chicken. I can't read every post on this thread, but it sounds like you don't have a lot of specific symptoms to go on. That makes it very difficult for you to treat. Without a vet visit with a lot of tests you are left with making decisions and supportive care.
If she is still not eating, the vet told me that Ensure was good for chickens. I had to use a syringe to get it into mine. If you started antibiotics I'd keep going with them, for at least a week, 2 is better, unless the antibiotics state to not use for longer than Xtime. I'd also keep her quarantined from the rest.
FYI- for everyone. The vet told me there is a vet in the crossroads area that has a reputation for being great with chickens. Off the top of my head I don't remember his/her name, but it wouldn't be hard to track it down.

Good luck,

His name is Dr. Bruce Singbeil(I think that's how it's spelled). He is great!
The problem with chickens is that by the time we decide to take them in they are hard to treat.
I have made it a point after losing a few because I waited too long to take them in, to take them in quick, after just day or two of my own treatment.
Then it gives him the best chance of treating them with success.
He will also give you a lot of info on how to prevent things and what not.
He is not astronomically expensive and he usually doesn't charge for a follow up visit if you have to take your pet back.
He will just charge for meds. I think he is very reasonable and fair with his pricing.

Antibiotics can cause diarrhea.Princess spent the night in the house in the dog crate. She actually went to sleep and didn't make a peep until 7:30 this morning when I heard her drinking water. When I went to the coop to scoop poop, someone else had diarrhea. Could that be from the antibiotics? Do I need to get to the store for yogurt and let all the girls go to town for a few weeks on yogurt every day?
What are you going to do? Give every broody a few eggs to sit on?So my GLW has two chicks that are 2 1/2 weeks old, my speckled sussex is sitting on four (down from 8) eggs that are do this Monday, and Now my Mottled Java has gone broody on me! she is sitting on a wood egg and a golf ball.I'm running out of room to put everybody
