yes but you will also bring more wild life in toyour place with the pond. Which might not be to good for the chickens.
So how have you been Lady? I hope your doing 100% better.

Maybe I should just dig a hole, line it and fill it with rocks and pea gravel and surround it all with bog plants. Maybe I can find some that the chickens won't eat.

Thanks for the well wishes, 99%. Infection is gone, but I still have to wear compression hose, or my leg will swell. I was hoping to not need the hose by the time we go to Hawaii. This will be our first vacation involving airplanes since we have started our family nearly 14 years ago. Get ready for some sunshine - I usually take the rain with me.

Beautiful coop. Did you build it?

No. We just did all the finish work. See my response above.

Oh my goodness... my little Drama reeks so bad tonight! I could smell her halfway across the yard. I don't have any pet shampoo... does it have to be a special shampoo? If I'm going to buy something, I want to buy the right thing.

I'm bumping this question. A little stinky girl needs a bath. I read that soap is toxic to chickens, so I don't want to buy something dangerous for her.

This is a new roo that was just dropped off to me by a family that though they had a pullet, they were so sad to leave him here. He is 14 weeks old and already has tried to do the deed with the girls at his previouse home.

Does any one think that this boy will make unique looking EE chicks with these pretty hens?

Thank you ever so much Chickielady. Very kind of you to go to such great lengths to get information for me. I do appreciate it very much. I'll let you know how it goes. Will try e-mail first.

Gosh it was easy, no great lengths at all...I just looked in my breeder book under "A".................

YAY! I have 2 new pullets today from Holly. They're super sweet and adorable! So glad I have the hutch for them to reside in while everyone gets used to each other though...the big girls were attacking the hutch wire trying to get the newbies! The newbies sure don't seem shy though and were squawking right back at the big girls. Hopefully the bigs will stay out to free range most of the day so nobody gets stressed out. ACV in everyone's water, molasses in the newbies' water, should be good to go in a few days after they've seen each other for a while.

Hey CL - If I missed giving my girls the Eprinex in the spring but I suspect they need it, (I'm seeing some dirty bottoms on a couple of girls) can I still give it to them now and then again in late Fall or just before they moult? Or is it too late for the Eprinex now?
you can certainly do it now !
Any birds with really dirty butts (egg masses) try to bathe, just get a warm water/tiny bit of dish soap or no more tears shampoo and gently set them in it & wash their bottoms...have a towel close by to dry ...and if ya get big hard gobs you can snip them off with scissors too.
Most of us give the Eprinex, and repeat in 2 weeks to clean up any eggs that may have hatched.
