I left an entire 40lb bag of Scratch & Peck scratch out in the rain, up against the house. It wasn't soaked, but the bottom of the bag was visibly damp. Haven't opened it up yet. Do you think if I leave it out in the sun to dry tomorrow that it will be fine? I imagine that as long as it doesn't mold between now and then that once it's dry I can put it in my airtight container and use it right?
Probably will get a few sprouts.............maybe dump it in a clean trash can & save off the damp bottom to feed to the birds first.

When I run out of fresh meat for the dog I'm going back to the auction. Sometimes you can get roos for a buck a piece! (bunnies too sometimes) YUP! Our auction in Chehalis charges 10% (I think) OR a flat $10 to set up in the parking lot.

It depends on the time of year, what the weather is like, the buyers - whole ton of stuff. IF you have some nice, purebred boys (of a breed that is rare or particularly wanted), AND have a really pretty print out with pedigree etc, you will do much better.

I just cull my extras and eat them. The gas price alone doesn't make it worthwhile.
I have a bachelor pad full of cockerels, about 35 of them, take your pick for free.

Chickie Lady, I misread your post, I thought it said "Jersey Giant,". I went over the photos with a fine tooth comb - wondering why I just kept seeing a big tomato instead of a chicken. LOL.
The Tomator, oddly enough, is called a Giant Jersey.
The Birds, are Jersey Giants, took this pic today:

I have BBS, but the Splashes were all up the hill free ranging

I absolutely love them !

Crele Chantecler and Partridge Chantecler update pics from today :

He is so gorgeous !

Full brother:

The pullet was up the hill free ranging also, she is a partridge, full sister.

One more fun thing: Blue Cuckoos
These are Cuckoo Marans X Blue Copper Marans:

They have blue bodies with great darker lacing like their Momma, and blue cuckoo'd necks.
Cockerals have Blue bodies and darker blue cuckoo'd neck & saddle hackle.

I have 4 pullets, and 2 cockerels.
Cockerels are in the Bachelor pad..free to BYCers.
Pullets NFS.

This is the Blue Cuckoo's Momma, a Blue Copper Marans.

This pic above taken last spring.
This hen has been broody the last 2 months so I finally gave her some eggs.
She came off the nest today and looked rough, and had a poppy bottom so I gave her a stitz bath.

After a quick butt bath, and drying, she went right back onto her nest.

Oh I almost forgot to post these pics for FlyRobinFly::
This is one of the Sphinx babies:
very cool leopard pattern & also 3/4% Maran (AMxCm then bred back to the CM and then bred back again makes 3/4 Maran.
Hoping it is a pullet, the other was a cockerel & sold fast, beautiful !

Little dude runs fast !

Too cute !
She has gold/brown and black spots all over in a leopard-like pattern, so far, no signs of hackle as the cockerel did have.
has the Sphinx cheeks too.
Pea comb (dominate) and pink skin & shanks (Marans) and a few shank feathers.

OK so since I'm going to butcher our one extra roo on Saturday (in 8 days)...does anyone have any roosters they don't want to butcher and eat for themselves? I am willing to take 2-3 more unwanted roosters to process next week. I will pick them up Friday. Let me know if you have any you simply don't want! Thanks :)

Umm, somewhere around 80-85 ducks, but only 12 chickens, 5 goats and 9 rabbits. We haul the feed from Tacoma in a trailer. We have a friend who has livestock too, so we get together, and we get it without tax cause he's farmer!

Himself needs a hot tub after unloading it into the basement

I know were you get it,

I use to go through a bag of grain a day for my goats than all the chicken food.
