Finally finished the nesting boxes at the new place, just in time:
I might have put an angled board on the top, but that would have required that the cuts weren't *straight*, and this is my first project since 7th grade so I think I did pretty well for myself. The girl on top is a bearded D'Anver ("Midnight"), and those are mini-boxes just for them. Almost done with the new coop-- just the permanent roosts left. Locating those on the garden side of the coop, complete with a clean-out door. No More Wheelbarrows! Fork, turn, plop, turn back, fork, turn, plop. Everyone loves their new digs.
That's Crown (aka Fancy Pants) our bonus Sultan everyone picks on. Poor girl. Sorry if anyone really loves birds like these, but I really think those top feathers are just ridiculous. Whatever. She's a pullet, thank heaven, and I'll take her.
These are great!
We just got our boxes built today too! How big did you make your boxes on the bottom row? The top boxes you have, you mentioned they are smaller for your D'Anver, are those guys about the same size as Bantams? We have 2 Bantams, a Cochin and an Ameracauna, and I'm not to sure how big to make their boxes. We have the big girls' boxes all done, hopefully they like them!
