I'm looking to plant garlic and other fall crops. Anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you, guys. That give me a bit of ammunition to fight the machine.FYI We also have a Serama Rooster that lives in our house . Pierre also sets on the couch with DW and eats with her. He also travels with us. Like this past weekend we went to the Dunes and Pierre went with us. Feel free to refer to me.
This too helps my cause as I try to explain the pros and cons of having chickens in the backyard (or house).Just curious... does he crow and wake you up early in the morning? And, where does he sleep? In a cage or something? It would freak me out to think there was a chicken able to roam the house at night while I was asleep.
As an advanced master gardener from Michigan, I can't help much with crops for your area. I suggest you contact your county extension office for what is best for your area. I can say that I've done taters in a garbage can and they looked like heck during the growing season but turned out well in the fall when I dumped them out. Just like you said.Don't give up on the potatoes. I have grown them in garbage cans with soil at the bottom and then I load them with straw so they are not too heavy to move. Even if it looks like the plants died early with no bloom, I dump the garbage cans out in the fall on my expired garden beds, and I usually find potatoes.
I did not grow any potatoes this year. I have a lot of extra tomato plants (green grape, snow white and red cherry), plus squash, zucchini and cucmber in the green house, only nothing is labeled so I can't tell what is what.

I liked your little chicken joke you posted, it made me laugh..It's amazing what you can find on the web when insomnia strikes:

Another thing I learned today. Even though the gals like to be petted, never ever sit down with them when you have just finished mowing the lawn and have grass bits clinging to your t shirt or jeans.![]()
Is there any easier way to keep up on this board? I haven't been on for a day and have about 90 posts to read...feeling like a slow reader![]()
