You get a head start and run your snowmobile across the river. If you sink, they fish you out and you lose. If you make it across the river, you win. :)
Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You probably have so many contact by now you'll get choice anxiety next year! But if you ever want any of mine just say the word, I should have two separate lines laying by next year, both the Hlésey line I've got now and then the Húsatóftir birds that I just imported (same gorgeous line that Sigrid has). The Húsatóftir birds will come with papers! But whatever birds you get they will love living at your place, you have such a great set-up and I could tell you really care a lot for your birds

You know, if you know the full name and birthdate (sometimes just the year is enough) of your great-grandfather (or even any person in your family that was born in Iceland) I can tell you how closely we are related!

No joke, it's easy for me to look up.

It's very cool that your family is still kickin' it old world style and fishing! What type of fish?

You totally should have Icelandic chickens, they really are great little creatures. I'd be more than happy to help you out with hatching eggs if I have some available when your hen goes broody. What is your set-up like? The Icies are not very happy campers in too much confinement, they love free ranging more than anything, they're Viking explorers!

SOOO...I just made a mistake I will NEVER make again! There were 3 eggs that had not yet hatched under my broody. I decided that after this amount of time they probably won't hatch so I took them out. I, without thinking it thru, decided I was curious to see what was inside so I brought them IN THE HOUSE to open them...carefully...to see what was inside. I had no idea that they were grenades in disguise!!!!!!!!!! I gave one just 1 tiny tap of the butter knife and BOOOM!

Of course I should've known that would happen, but my brain has more and more lapses in thinking power lately! My oh my the smell

Hey Vala, how did you do the import – was it eggs or chicks? There are some folk on the Barnevelder thread that would like to import eggs but don’t know how. Then I remembered you have done it a couple of times. Maybe it’s easier to do from Iceland though?

I’m looking forward to spring – and getting some Icee eggs in the incubator! They have so many wonderful colours.

I still have 4 10 week old Seramas, (two cockerels, two pullets) in my computer room as I don't have any place to put them yet. They can't go outside because they DO crow, starting around 6 AM and for tiny birds they can crow pretty loud! I ordered a 3 foot long rabbit cage for them a couple of days ago for a trio to live in but haven't decided yet where they'll live permanently - either in the house or garage. I'm trying to re-home one little cockerel.
They don't roam the house free range, but I do take the top off of their large brooder box so they can roost on top or fly over to us when we're in here at the computer.

It's a little odd I think. I hadn't actually planned on having house chickens, but haven't cleared a space in the garage for them yet. And they're so friendly I'm not sure I want them isolated out there. I feel like a crazy woman. Thank goodness I have a tolerant DH - but he's nearly as bad. He comes in to talk to them and play with them when he thinks no one is looking.

They are just as friendly (and spoiled) as any of our other house birds have been - the parakeets or cockatiels.

Hola! I'm within city limits! there are quite a few of us here in Seattle, I'm by Northgate Mall / U district.

Cool! We're four blocks north of Roosevelt High School. Maybe we'll hear each others' clucking sometime. :)

Your very close! I'm right by northgate mall!

:gig so sorry! :lau
I learned long ago to crack open over the yard waste bin when I was lucky/unlucky enough to get a stinker during my eggtopsies....
The lucky part is I have never had any egg bombs so far... *knocks on wood*
